Don't miss out on these K98 rifles

But do they have war eagles, they gotta' have war eagles. I didn't know pre war K98ks weren't as collectable. Guess I'll dump my two 37 Sauers. I guess i need some of these instead, pimp shined that's obvious, perhaps with gloss black Imron.

    Need advice on stock restoration

First thing I would want to do is figure out what the finish is. The scratches make me wonder if it might be shellac. If so I'm a firm believer in using the least harshest methods possible. Old shellac should scratch easily like with a thumbnail. If this proves to be the case you might try a...

    Good Kop, Bad Kop, Totenkop

That one is so bad even the suckers haven't bid on it. Maybe it needs some Classic war eagles all over it.

New to k98k's; need a value opinion

Suspicion doesn't mean it ain't legit but nice bluing on an old military rifle has me looking at stamps and for pitting that's been blued over. I have a 1908 Swedish m96 that has imaculate bluing. I looked it over pretty darn close before I bought it too.

New to k98k's; need a value opinion

I get suspicious anytime the bluing on a 74 year old rifle doesn't look 74 years old.

    Gew98M in service...pics.

A Hakenkreuz above the right breast pockets on the uniforms, so it would be after the death of Von Hindenberg. Kids look all proud and gung ho, little did they know what their fate would behold.

A stock worth its own thread

On a 1937 Sauer. Original stock but unfortunately sanded, probably because it's a nice hunk of walnut. Also a nice 1912 Swedish m96.

    M/41 sniper rifle

Right Andy that's an original m/41 with a German Ajack (A. Jackenroll Optische) scope on it, the pic probably taken in the 40s. The m/41s were rebuilt in 1955 when the Swedes took the old German Ajack scopes, waterproofed them, coated the lenses and did a few minor upgrades to the rifle like...

Classic has a new run of K98s from a collection - first is a 'matched' '39 bsw

As Ben said when he picked up the ex sniper, "If you're a collector you're just having fits right now." Yeah that 37 BSW with that all original cupped butt plate is giving me fits. Must have been an uber rare prototype butt plate. WOW what a find. :faint:

    Proper period finish

Just remember to cut the BLO like a third with mineral spirits or even better pure spirits of gum turpentine and to buff off any excess after an hour or two.. Today's BLO has a way of looking like varnish after it sets up when applied full strength and not buffed. Don't get carried away and put...
