Kar. 98 (NOT Kar98a) auction result

I saw this carbine about a month ago or so. Interesting carbine because of the stock. Without seeing the unit mark. I can't say it saw action with the Schutztruppe. I have it cataloged as 1904/Erfurt/1637/Kar.98/? (carbine is a Kar.98 2nd model.)

    1913 WMO Pre-war Wehrmanngewehr

Paul here is some information I received from Mr Speed. When I posted this rifle a couple years ago. Comment from Jon Speed regarding this rifle. "The bolt is match and correct as commercial turn down bolts could also be used on 8.15X46r rifles. Bolt face is correct for rimmed round with...

    Odd colonial Gew 98.

Hmm I never really thought of it that way. I can double check for you. If I have any more photos of the scope. I will post them. I'm not really sure who the maker of the scope is.

    Odd colonial Gew 98.

Hello everyone. I need some help from you wonderful sniper experts on the mounts and scope on this rifle. I believe the mounts and scope are post World War I. Kaiserliche Schutztruppe of the German South-West Africa didn't deploy snipers or use snipers. I would like to know what some of you guys...

    The gunsmith you choose matters

I can't really say a lot of bad stuff about him. The Gew 91 video on his channel was my Gew 91 before I sold to a friend of mine. I will say the first idea to repair the Gew 91 was really stupid. His second idea that you see in the video was a lot better then the first. I guess all I can really...

KS4349, 1901 Spandau Mauser 7372, located in Pretoria, South Africa

Former Schutztruppe gunsmith Joseph Port who wrote some letters in the 1950s about the life and weapons of the Schutztruppe in German SouthWest Africa or DSWA. According to Port, he was in charge when the bending of the rifle bolts was done. The bolt was bent in 1908 in Windhuk. The bolts were...

KS4349, 1901 Spandau Mauser 7372, located in Pretoria, South Africa

I've been trying to figure this out for about seven years now. My conclusion is the same as yours. I kinda believe there be as many as 2,100 surviving examples. I say that because The Landespolizei had 497. I'm not entirely sure how many of those 497 survive to this very day. All of the...

Great looking Schutztruppegewehr 98. It's in pretty good condition too. I keep a catalog of the firearms used by the Schutztruppe. I have this rifle's information in my catalog but I will have to change the description a little to add the UDF part.

    11mm Mauser Schutztruppe Police Rifle

So here's three examples of police 1871 Jägerbüchse used by Town Police in German South West Africa. I figured these would be good references. 1880/Danzig/2343/This rifle is marked "ORTSPolizeibehörde Bethanien 359" (This would indicate that it was used by a Kaiserliches Gouvernement Polizei...

    11mm Mauser Schutztruppe Police Rifle

Thank you so much for the photos. Yes they are very rare. This one makes me pretty excited because this is the first one I've ever seen that is a IG1871. I have only seen, recorded and cataloged Jägerbüchse 1871 used by any polizei of the German colonies. Do you mind if I record this rifle?
