    Spandau 1916 Gewehr 98 W/Dust Cover & Night Sights

Tbh. How does one know it came with those accessories from the factory? A past collector could’ve added those to the rifle in order to bolster the price more.

    Granatenwerfer 16 or Gr.W.16

This was my thought lol. With a few measurements, a dummy round could quickly be produced. No joke, give me a handful of measurements and a few hours and I could have a model designed. A couple test runs on my 3D printer and then off to a machine shop.

    1890 Amberg 88 5559d

The stock does match. The serial number was stamped on the inside of the stock. Hopefully I can get some proper ammo and give it a test fire at some point.

It does not. Not in finish or number

I just hope I’m a good enough owner from the elements. Time will tell.

    1890 Amberg 88 5559d

Picked up this Amberg Gew 88 commission rifle a week or so ago. Finally got around to snapping some pictures and giving it a thorough takedown. It’s been reworked several times at different depots. Looks like it was last reworked at depot 5, and at depot 11 before that. It is unit marked to...

    1888 Spandau 71/84 unit marked

There’s a very small “H” towards the top but other than that the only other marking is the serial number.

    1888 Spandau 71/84 unit marked

Picked this up off of a good friend that’s not on the forums to my knowledge. All of the numbers match. It is unit marked to a Garde-Reserve-Schützen-bataillon. I will let you folks help me figure out the rest as I am still learning these rifles. Note: the rear sling swivel.

    71/84 lot numbers?

Quite possible. I could also see where they would make the action as a separate assembly at the start and then mate it to the receiver. Similar to how the belgiums did the Comblain.

    71/84 lot numbers?

This seems to be a common practice for that time frame. I’ve seen Japanese rifles with the same things going on. But Japanese rifles are a lot more fickle as little is none about them. The Japanese didn’t keep the best records of their stuff. Thankfully the Germans did. Oh the 71/84 is a...

    71/84 lot numbers?

so I’m tearing down a model 71/84 to clean and store in the safe. The gun is overall matching except for some of the parts in the action. The finish matches the rest of the inner action pieces but the numbers do not. Did the 71/84s have a lot or batch number some of these parts? Or are these...

Remake of Classic All Quiet on The Western Front

The King’s Men has a good hand to hand WWI fight scene towards the middle

Remake of Classic All Quiet on The Western Front

In the big fight scene in the middle. When they come up on the guys in the makeshift mess hall. One of the characters fires his G98 with the bolt open.

1917 simson with EWB brand, is this a proverbial hens tooth?

You might have to do some cropping to shrink the size a bit. I’ve had to do that before with some of my pictures.

Remake of Classic All Quiet on The Western Front

As an AQOTWF movie a 2/10. It strays from the book quite a bit, but it is “loosely” based on the book. As a WWI movie, a 7/10. There’s some Hollywood touchy feely parts, and more unforgivably some firearm mistakes. But overall it is quite well made for being a Netflix movie. It’s well worth a...

Question: How can I fix this?

I recommend 0000 steel wool and a penetrating oil. I use WD-40 due to availability. And then I clean it off and put a preserving oil or grease on it. Just spray some oil on it and give a light scrubbing.

1909 Spandau Wartime Rework, Danzig, Depot "22"

Nice rifle overall! Just a thought, could have passed through depot 2 (Küstrin) twice over the course of the war? I ask this since the “2”s do not line up.

    1917 Erfurt Kar98a - Long Term Project

I started my imperial German collection with a sporter G98. It was a 1903 Danzig. I posted on here not too long ago. These “fixer upper” guns always seem to be the most fun to me. Overall, nice save on this 98a! Connor

    1917 Danzig Depot 5 Rework

We all start with 1 rifle. Mine was that 1903 Danzig you helped me rebuild, your help combined with my interest in mechanical things and my need to tinker with stuff sparked my interest in WWI guns. In particular these rifles sometimes have more to tell than a standard Lebel or 1903 does, so I...
