Permission to join the Schutztruppe Gewehr club

Fantastic example of a Schutztruppegewehr 98. It really clean and in great shape. I think you did great. The rifle was used by the Union of South Africa Defence Force or UDF pre - 1964 markings. Verkauft = sold. Arrow in U = service Diamond in U = sold out of service. Your's looks a lot better...

    Schutztruppen marked 1883 RR

Well first things first. I won this 1883 Reichsrevolvers, or Der Revolver back in May 2021. When they say patience is a virtue you better believe it because I had a lot of patience. A lot of delays. A lot of emails. My packages even shipped to Chicago and never claimed and shipped back to South...

    Kar98AZ, Kar98A Which is it?

Thank you. I am glad you liked my summary on the early 98 carbines. It was fun to wirte. I also catalog in document known surviving examples. https://www.k98kforum.com/threads/known-surviving-kav-kar-98-art-kar-98-and-kar-98-1st-variant-and-2nd-model.48781/

    Kar98AZ, Kar98A Which is it?

Sadly wiki is wrong about the Kar.98A. No surprise there. Some people will call them Kar.98 first pattern and second pattern. Both of those terms are also wrong. The correct term is Kav.Kar.98, Art.Kar.98, Kar.98 1st variant and Kar.98 2nd model. Here is a little history I wrote up about the...

Ah. I see it now. I didn't see it at first.

    7K for a Commission Rifle?

TC? That is two L's back to back with a C. Standing for Ludwig Loewe & Company. I kind of feel like this is a salesman's rifle. Or some type of factory workshop model. There's no Prussian acceptance marks. Here is an example of the company's Crest that they would stamp on rifles. You can often...

    Bayonets?

Well I have posted in the Bayonet and Accessories section. I don't have a lot of bayonets. The Imperial German colonies and Overseas Forces is my main focus. 95% of all my bayonets are from the German colonies or Overseas Forces. I apologize in advance that all of my backgrounds for my photos...

Awesome rifle Chris. I like salty look the rifle has. It gives it some character. I love that muzzle cover.

My all matching 1882 Spandau 71/84.....well, almost all matching.

No worries typos happen. Great looking rifle by the way.

My all matching 1882 Spandau 71/84.....well, almost all matching.

Sorry this is not related to any of the stamps or proof marks on your rifle. Your title has 1882 Spandau 71-84. I believe that is dated 1887. Not 1882. At first glance it did look like an 1882. Then I zoomed in and that period next to the seven does may it look like a two.
