New semi auto STG 44s being imported

The SSD MP38s sucked....however I have one and will never sell it unless I get a real one..... The semi design was cool in that it kept things as close as possible to the original, while keeping with a closed bolt hammer fired design. Field stripping was the same and overall appearance was awesome. They look like a real MP, way better than the "SSR" MP40s..... (but at least those work). But in function the SSD MP38 design was very lacking.......

A disconnector would have helped,, but as it is if you are shooting faster than one round a second you will trip the hammer while the bolt is in mid cycle and jam up the whole works. So you have to field strip the gun to get it so you can re-cock the hammer with your fingers then put it back together. Then repeat......
IO didn't do anything to fix this,, just an addendum to the owners manual not to pull the trigger while the bolt was back and how to clear it if you do!
I put a section of nylon dowel in the spring tube so the bolt cannot go past the hammer. No more stuck bolts.

Then the firing pins.... oh yes the firing pins........
Little "L" shaped bastards....... the firing pin itself was pressed into an extension,,..... first the firing pin would break from the extension. Then eventually the striker would stick in the bolt face...... I don't know how I never got any runaways with it, just jams when that happened..... SO I mod'd ar15 firing pins and used an additional forward spring on them. No more problems there for year or so.... then it was light strikes galore. It was maddening......Hammer springs are the same as an MP44/G43,,, so that was easy enough, except it didn't help..... I ended up switched out the firing pin with an MG42 firing pin and that has cleared up allot of the light strikes,, It will fire most anything live now..... but it still will only fire swanson's blanks though,, everyone elses blanks will light strike... It makes no sense.......

Then during all that the rear "L" shaped firing pin extensions decided to break. After having it welded and it breaking again a couple times I had new parts fabricated. A new reinforced firing pin extension and a new threaded end cap on the spring tube to fit the new beefed up firing pin extension.

So now with my MG 42 firing pin, new fabricated parts and $600 later it's running great.

Not being in an MG state my MP options were/are limited. If I didn't love the gun I would've shite canned it long ago. I've run pretty close to 5K rds through it though...... So they are fun when they work!

Stg44 - that is an excellent no BS post, thank you!

Interesting on Joe Swanson's blanks working and not others - his are certainly hotter than most - are the other blanks you're trying military surplus? They would certainly be harder to strike than Swanson's civilian grade primers.

I ask because I now use primarily Atlantic wall for my blanks - many of their products are military surplus.

Yes there have been problem s with the Guns , there have been problems with the heat treatment . This is no longer a problem after we started doing it ourself at the factory. There have been problems with making the SSD parts working together with the us made parts and this will not happen again since all parts will be made in USA. The biggest problem is that we have not been able to help you fixing the problems, and that is why i have been trying to send parts to customers that have problems. This have been a nightmare for mr Dittrich. I can send parts from where i live but he cant. I will run the factory in USA and i will NOT sell a Gun before it work 100% , and with full waranty. I have sendt papers to the us goverment and awaiting the process. I hope to buy me a ranch in Kentucky wery soon to put upp the factory . i will also try to help the customers that already have the Guns with there problems. I can probebly not help you with all the problems but i will try, and I will do my best with making you new guns with god quality and stand upp for the waranty. Dingo

Wait a minute. The new MP44's and MP40's were supposed to be available this year and there is already a website starting a waiting list. How is that even remotely possible when you have to source land here in the US, get permits to build a factory, build a factory, source materials, build prototypes, test prototypes, fix issues, build final product, test final product, and then ship them out when there are only 6 months left in the year?? Am I missing something??

:boom:

lol

I can guarantee that RICK's FG42 Mod 1 will be in production long before anything from SSD will. That's going to be one long waiting list in more ways then one.

HDH.

Well the other website is planing to import some stg from SSD i am not gonna sell them , only build them so there you have the reason. If they will be able to import some they will be on the marked sooner that them i will build. It is easy er to build them in USA , than to import them. I have notting to do with the website so i can not speak for them . And as you point out mine will not be ready this year. The rifle s i gonna produce will be sold by dealers together with ammo and parts.

It would be really neato if someone would figure out how to replicate the late war phosphate process with it's almost washed on appearance. It just makes the rifle look so much more utilitarian and business like. You can almost feel the urgency to get these things into the field when they look like this:

This is what I am looking for - I have an in the white receiver right now, I would like to go this way.

Which is more authentic?
MANGANESE PHOSPHATE Dark Grey in color, although shade may vary depending on metal composition and hardness.
Using “Parco Lubrite” which is what Colt and others used in WWII.
Or, ZINC PHOSPHATE, resulting in a slightly lighter color.
I also read about iron parkerizing, (phosphatizing, phosphate coating, all mean the same thing.)

The hard part then is getting the loom of seventy years of wear - park/phosphate is pretty resilient.

yes you can replicate the colors you are looking for using simple products from home depot for that washed look as KSH67 indicated

example for a green color use a mix of phoshate based product and copper, zinc for gray, duller black/ gray use manganese, black use steel wool. use less or more amounts to obtain the finish you wish and of course using scrap sheet metal similar to that used on the mp-44
