    Sniper pictures

Front barrel band appears to be not the H style milled, but the solid mid-war type. Edit: remembered this particular sniper photo shoot and made some better quality scans for study

With all due respect you are undervaluing your dust. Add a Certificate of Authenticity for extra few dollars. Something bona fide yet classy like this one:

Taking controls turret off a CZ Jena scope to slide into/out of rings. Also, operating the scope, how to?

Awesome post! Love seeing period pamphlets and training exercises. Thanks for the share, look forward to what else you find.

    Did sniper triggers have spikes?

Ai made narrated video with BS claims. Come on people. Even moment of critical thinking would debunk this. Without having zero proof of such thing ever physically existing. German snipers were professional marksmen, they don't need gimmick of spiking their finger, which would make them useless...

    Accumounts SSR, any experience ?

I had a split ring HT set up built years ago, so that i could take advantage of having several original scopes in my collection. The screws that hold the rings together were very soft but everything has remained steady after about several thousand rounds and solid use in the field over the...

Sniper pics from the french national archive

Nice pictures. Really great to see rifle in action with some form of camo line breaking wrap being used from the germans without being sanitized for propaganda.

    Scharfschützen in der Waffen-SS

Thanks for the offer Dave I believe I found a reputable german site that was willing to process orders to the US thankfully. We'll see if they follow through... Eager for more books on the subject of german snipers lately if anyone has recommendations while the topic is up.

    Scharfschützen in der Waffen-SS

Is there some stores that still offer this? I've tried about a year ago to obtain this book, but I kept getting sent the wrong one in the US.

Looking for information on this model 98

Very nice piece, shame the scope is missing. I think you'd have better idea of where it came from by asking any family members still around that knew your great uncle's service history and if he ever mentioned his deployment. Records are hard enough to nothing to come by after the defeat of...

Looking for information on this model 98

A single claw mounted sniper rifle, however if you can provide photos of the left side of the mounts will be able to determine more info and if real.

Be careful. Fakers in our midst. gill120 Dave Gill please respond

You'll have to forgive people as the topic itself is one that stirs passion amongst collectors. So naturally people get heated and off topic towards an issue that wasn't closed in the best of ways, but at least thought of as dead. As for earlier question of "why not put a matching scope base...

    Ajack 4x90

Thank you absolut for confirming. Definitely an interesting setup being installed on a 1903 rifle, probably bringback by a vet and setup as such. Any idea or info that came with the rifle purchase?

    Ajack 4x90

The + marking was a indicator that it was treated grease for cold weather. Someone with the serial ranges in better memory can correct me, but I believe it probably came from a 1944 HT sniper. Since its low fit to the rifle, it might be hard to see if there is any number stamps on the rear of...

    Ajack 4x90

That is a gorgeous scope. The serial on the left hand side will tell more of when it was produced. This is the place for dedicated collectors in terms of german optics and related so your instinct served well. If you do plan to part the scope out for sale, I would definitely be interested.

    Turret mount

Yes they are silver soldered to the receiver. Removing them would be very foolish, as collectors pay to have things as they were. If you have any pics of the sides of the receiver and barrel to post, it should easy to tell who and probably what year.

    Understanding the German post site

I doubt it's military scope, but sometimes reticles were changed post war. However that rifle and bolt look seriously mangled... Those reticle #4 with dots I believe were for civilian target shooting in mind.
