Unfortunately, I own a Mauser from Mitchell

Might as well shoot it and enjoy. Beats pulling the trigger on an all matching 98k and having the stock crack or worse. Just my opinion.

    My BNZ43 Single Rune

I vote to keep it. has some value as stated above plus a fun shooter! A gem compared to my old BYF-44 super mix-matcher I had.

    My BNZ43 Single Rune

That an H stamp on the stock for army issue? Agree on the bad numbers on band but still for the money a decent grab. Nice to have a BNZ SS.

    243 code 1940 k98

Looks nice. By the way L&F stands for Linden & Funk. Supplied the metal buckle for 98k slings but not sure if the firm produced the entire sling. Sub-contractor I guess. Always nice to see another 243 Borsigwalde code for comparison with mine. My father brought mine back. Mine is a "H" stamped...

    243 code 1940 k98

Well the #26 nos. are correct. As for the cleaning rod I have read here they were stamped with last 2 digits until sometime in 1941. Rod length 12 1/2 inches. Sounds like a low number on yours. Just comparing with my 243 1940 which is a bring back. Metal bluing on yours looks very good from...

    Xmas ornaments from Hitler's tree

Heck I would buy K-98 or G41-43 rifle ornaments for the tree. Doubt the branches would support my real one.

Should I clean or leave as found 1940 K98k

I would just wipe the stock down with a damp soft cloth and leave it. Am sure the bore could use a cleaning.

Didn't know a 243 1940 dated Borsigwalde was considered one of the more rare 98ks. Thanks for the tip.

    K98 New Buyer Guide

Yep pretty expensive now. Have noticed Japanese Type 38s and 99s are rising too with mum intact. Should have jumped on that Type 99 for $25 back in 72.
