243 code 1940 k98

Hello everyone new member here and I got this k98 243 code. I was told it is all matching and all the external parts from what I can see are numbers matching. I am a big skeptical about the numbers on the bolt parts. I was hoping someone would have some insight on this. It looks good to me but I’m not sure if the font on the numbers is the same. Although the pieces are different sizes so I assume workers in the factory had to use different punches to make the numbers fit. Is there any other way to tell if the parts are correct to the rifle? I see there are a lot of #26 stamps on different parts of the rifle(not sure what that stamp is called) but should all the bolt parts have this stamp? Also I was wondering if the cleaning rod should have numbers on it. And I noticed there is a number on the stock near the take down disc I know usually the numbers for the stock are inside the wood near the barrel but is the external number correct for this rifle? Sorry for the long post just trying to gather info on this unit. I looked at other threads but couldn’t really find what I was looking for. If anyone has a thread that would point me in the right direction I’d appreciate that. I have some pics but they aren’t the best I could get more when I see the rifle in person. Thanks again for your help hope to hear from you soon

Well the #26 nos. are correct. As for the cleaning rod I have read here they were stamped with last 2 digits until sometime in 1941. Rod length 12 1/2 inches. Sounds like a low number on yours. Just comparing with my 243 1940 which is a bring back. Metal bluing on yours looks very good from here. Does the rifle include the sling also? Mine is stamped L&F Others will be along I am sure with more knowledge than myself. Hope it helps

The bolt numbers are fine.

This was a LSB auction right?

I may of watched this one. It might be the one that the stock was sanded. Want to post the listing (you can, since it’s ended)?

I gotcha I’ll have to check the cleaning rod when I get the rifle. Unfortunately this one doesn’t have a sling but I’ll probably try and get a correct sling for it later on. The blueing is fair some spots being better that others. What is a L&F stamp I’m not familiar with that. I got this rifle on GB so I’ll post the link to it on here if you’d like to check it out. Also thank you for the reply

Yes this was a LSB auction on GB. They usually have a good variety of rifles and seem to sell good stuff but the pictures and descriptions they put on some auctions can be vague. I wouldn’t doubt that the stock was sanded cause the stamps on the stock are a bit faded. As far as the bolt numbers what concerns me is the 3 on the safety lever isn’t the same font as the 3 on the bolt body. I’m not sure though. Thoughts? Either way I’ve seen mixed matched rifles sell for around the same price or even more so I just bought it. It seems like a good example of a early war gun and it’ll make a good shooter for my collection. I’ll post the auction here so you can check it out if you’d like.

Looks nice. By the way L&F stands for Linden & Funk. Supplied the metal buckle for 98k slings but not sure if the firm produced the entire sling. Sub-contractor I guess. Always nice to see another 243 Borsigwalde code for comparison with mine. My father brought mine back. Mine is a "H" stamped heer army issuance 98k. Hope you are as happy with yours.

Thank you. That’s good to know. It is really cool how many subcontractors made parts to complete a rifle. Cool history with these German k98s. That’s awesome your father brought back a k98 from Europe. That’s a rifle you will cherish forever. God bless him for his service. I’ll post Better pics when I get the rifle. Cheers
