    Gew 98 Spandau 1916

I think Darrin Weaver was working on a project recently, probably done already if so, and Sam Newland was working on a Steyr book, but like usual I lost touch with him a year or two back.

I agree, even if only a peripheral interest exist all can illuminate a better understanding; these add context to the evolution (continuity) and main players.

    Clean BYF 43 Worth It?

WaA135 bolts are found this late and into 1944 though are rare, how common is another subject (bolts are the most difficult to trend well, as its a double wammy when bolt matchers are around single digits % and most sellers neglect to show the lower flat...) but I think this a correct bolt

    Gew 98 Spandau 1916

Amazing! You found the barrel code in front of the rearsight all on your own (not meant condescendingly!); some can;t find it with a map and takes three or four emails... but in fairness, Reisels crew (as good as they are detailing their wares) can't manage this 10% of the time and they are...

    Gew 98 Spandau 1916

The barrel code would be in front of the rearsight; looks like someone tried to remove the barrel but thankfully stopped. The stock screams WMO to me, I am 90% sure this is off a wartime WMO. Show the right receiver? (acceptance)

    1890 Amberg Gew 88

I can't think of an alterative other than K=Krupp; it seems some firms had contracts or preferences like DWM for Bohler and and WMO for "BS" might be Bohler though several alternate possibilities exist.... Simson too seems to group in patterns -especially late to Krupp; so too Danzig to...

    1890 Amberg Gew 88

Oh, CJ i meant to add how much I agree with the others about this being a fine example and great photospread of its details!

    1890 Amberg Gew 88

Looking at trends 4519/g has a barrel marked S&S (JPS is S&S and S&Co almost certainly represents Simson) and Suhl makers were engaged in such work regularly it seems. (though Bohler made no barrels, they supplied blanks only, "numerous" Suhl markings indicate subcontractors made barrels for...

That much?????? The rare book market is very soft the last decade or more, -my thing (side) has always been as a book dealer, have many thousands of books (use to buy estate holdings which come with a lot of junk... but an extraordinary book here and there...) Mike, Bruce and Hambone did pretty...

    Captured Russian Potato digger

Really a great photograph Jorden! Your taste in photo's and pc's is impeccable and often are quality examples,- with the right context (such) can pull large amounts on ebay,- or use too (though ebay isn't what it once was... when it started you could buy guns which I did several times in the...

Opinions On Newly Purchased DWM 1916 Gew98

Not mine, off a forum, auction or collector that asked a question or help. Based upon the pictures I would say an auction but it could be off a gun dealers website. I didn't save a context and usually don't unless it is relevant to the report or source, (collector to collector, if alive...

    147 / 1940, Force Matched Bolt?

Stephan, I have pictures of 9602, they are good so must be from you! You are one of the best researchers out there these days, you should have been a moderator long ago! If you did Imperial or the republic you would be welcome to take my place... you combine trending and research in away no one...

Opinions On Newly Purchased DWM 1916 Gew98

wartime DWM's are either near "minty" or used harshly, at least in trends, much like wartime Spandau's... flipping is best on gunbroker but how you do it matters (pictures matter, as does "cleaning" - fastest way to waste money, other buying US debt-treasury bonds is poor cleaning and bad...

It has a matching bolt ("bolt body" - at least in 2012)

    147 / 1940, Force Matched Bolt?

On the plus side it has a 936-dfb subcontract barrels which are the first to show up in1940; mostly in the s-v ranges of 147/40, though this doesn't make up for a bad bolt...

    AR 44 22938h

In 2016 Hugh Brock sold this rifle and said the same thing...he wrote "WaA FAKE" in the barrel channel which shows his character as a seller. An old KCN'r he died in 2016, - one of the good guys and an early researchers. Larry got ahold of it and sold it in 2017 but I only saved the pictures...

bnz 4 m block handstamp on salvage BSW receiver was it all original?

Accurate, L-N blocks seem most prevalent- ignore the trivial parts as the receiver types are in front... 853 l – (II) (NF) RR- e/623(?), Mod.98, SBO/s-FPBO (BS “6”) (RS base-scale e/623-853) 1161 l – (II) (NF) RR- e/623(?) x2, Mod.98 SBO/s-FPBO (BC DQ BS “1”) (possible V/6 circle under rec.)...

    No suffix Dresden Sterngewehr?

I have yet seen a truly minty (high-grade condition) Saxony-Dresden sterngewehr and this is about as nice as they get... further trends on them are plentiful and the "diversity" of receivers and sub-variations would make a modern democrat glow with pride... between receiver and date mix they...
