    Second opinions on byf 45

Agreed, I wouldn't doubt a significant portion of these left Europe already having screws from crates or other places being slapped on by the guys mailing them home. The front band seems much more worn than the rest of the rifle, but if the price is right I wouldn't worry to much about it...

NEW FIND.. BYF44 L BLOCK.. OG POSTER

That stock is giving Brunn a run for its money! Great rifle. Did the locking screws disappear somewhere in the L block? I swear I have seen L blocks without them.

Sadly the stock has been cleaned and sanded it seems, but the metal is fantastic minus the pitting I'd say. The rear sight pin seems to be missing.

WW2 German Bread Bag (Breadbag) Reference Thread

Yes the majority have the 3 hole dish button like zeltbahns, but genuine 4 hole button ones pop up occasionally, often ersatz or captured material made bags. It is also worth mentioning that these things were used daily and took a beating. buttons are some of the first things that need...

WW2 German Mess Kit (Messkit) Reference Thread

I have yet to see any 1942 dated ones either, It almost seems that 1943 was their only year of production for the M42 steel messkit. M31's with 1930's dates however seem common. There appears to be no M42 steel canteens marked ZPStZ whatsoever, with the latest aluminum ones dated 1942.

    BYF Low Turret

Stock looks cleaned up as well but if the price was right it'll be a great shooter. The one great dilemma with all matching rifles especially snipers is you never want to shoot them! This will make a good range gun.

Matching BCD 4 Long Side Rail 83600

Thanks for the info! Rookie question for sure haha, but with the amount of fakes and the cost of genuine examples, I haven't bothered to learn a thing about snipers.
