K98k stock repair service?

Hey guys,

I have finally secured the final missing piece for my byf42. A armorer’s replacement front milled band. The original stock was cut down practically to the cleaning rod nut but i have the original rear band and band spring. I have a perfect MO replacement front end of stock to have spliced in. Does anybody know someone who runs a really good k98k stock repair service? This rifle has been waiting years to be “repaired” and now it’s finally the time. The stock repair gentleman I used in the past no longer does it. Any advice, suggestions or help in this matter would be very much appreciated. Thanks

Years ago I found Jeff Walmsley in an old shotgun news (now firearms news) ad and I spread the word of his services. Wondering if I kicked off his popularity or if people found him organically on their own...

Either way, he's great! trust him will all my projects. original matching K98s that are duffle cut, a duffle cut all matching G41, etc etc.

Well, I was 100% sure I had a section of byf donor stock but either I gifted it to a forum member or threw it out years ago. Can’t seem to recall, but I can’t find it in my gun room. The rifle currently is sitting in a Norwegian byf 42 stock. I refuse to take the section from that since it’s in excellent shape. I was wondering if anyone has a front section of red glue laminate stock that they can help me out with? It would need to be from the cleaning rod nut to the front. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I can do 💰 or trade for something.

Heard his name here and he's probably done work on 5+ stocks for me at this point.

In many cases the repair isn't that difficult if you wish to take it on. This is one I have in work. The cut was clean and square with mimical loss of wood. I use alum tubing with OD just slightly larger than the cleaning rod hole with ID that accepts cleaning rod perfectly. the hole in both pieces of stock is enlarged with drill same size at tubing allowing for proper alignment. Inserted with a little epoxy and the front section is joined with a good carpentry wood glue. I use a cleaning rod and also clamp it with a scrap barrel to keep everything in place while it set up. Sorry I didn't bother to take pictures during the work. Here it is while curing.

Here is a 45 bnz stock I saved for a fellow. It was hacked hard, below the band, sanded with corners rounded and BLO placed on it. The BLO turned the stock that yellow brown, you can spot it a mile away. So both the new blank and the stock needed stain work to get them both in the ballpark. Some photos of the stock before I started, during and the owners photos when he assembled it.

Relative to the OP, you stock is cut well below the band and will require surgery similar to what I preformed on this one.
