Update on FG42 from SMG Guns

I just got an e-mail from Rick today, and he says both of my type 1 FG42’s (one in 8mm and the other in .308) will be completed in 8-12 weeks, and he asked for final details about the builds. The long wait is finally going to be over. I plan on keeping the 8mm rifle as a safe queen, and I plan to shoot the snot out of the .308 rifle.
 
I put my deposits down in June of 2021. Since he does not mention price in the e-mails, I hope he does not hit us up for another last minute price hike.

He stated that there wouldn't be increases to the base price for our group, hopefully that holds true. If the cost of shipping/cerakote/etc (stuff they don't do) increases you could be eating that cost but I don't imagine it to be huge.

Yep and if I remember correctly, SSD sells their variant in Europe for 13k+ base price. It was 9k in canada around 14 years ago but I can't seem to dig up the post showing they're 13k now, i just vaguely remember reading it somewhere. I received an email on Tuesday the 14th asking for final payment. It also asked to send in a bayonet if I had one, as well as any info on sight mount engravings. I've been on the list since April of 2021, nice to see my time has finally come!
 
Can you elaborate about sight mount engravings? I haven't heard about this.

Are you getting a scope and mount?

"We now are needing the bayonet if you have one for us to modify. Part of the early call for money is we engrave the matching serial number in the scope mount and have a small box of ones we engraved ahead and then folks changed their minds or something happened." I guess I misread the email originally, it only pertains to folks that are getting a mount which I am not. Also thank you

Any updates since? I ordered a few weeks after you and haven’t heard a thing
 
Well, today is 12 weeks since the “8-12 weeks” window that was e-mailed to us. Has ANYONE been contacted besides Sombra?
 
He emailed me earlier, letting my know my check made it today. I asked him if the bipod legs were holding things up (cerakote finish only) but haven't heard anything back yet.
 
If you got the extra scratch lying around kick it in and hit the BIN button and get the Scope Mount option (T/II) ,then all you need is a PU to install in it. Takes an already cool looking gun to another level. Was well worth the investment . In for a penny,in for a pound is my motto with things like this.
