SS Contract and Single Rune serial study

Hello, Here are two of mine, Large font bnz 44 no receiver proofs, s.n. 8717, v7 in circle on receiver bridge, barrel code DC bnz1 in shield, WaA623, stamped e135 trigger guard with milled floor plate 8717. White glue Steyr stock, stamped unmarked bands. All metal matches. Next is non ss, Heer small font bnz 4, WaA623 on top of rec. s.n. 2589a, barrel code CC bnz1 in shield, WaA623, right side receiver is 77, & 623, milled tg 77 x 2, milled fp 2589a, red glue stock unmarked, with stamped numbered bands, all matched except rear sight leaf. Hope you can decipher all this, also have a bnz43 ss contract I will add tonight.
One more unusual to me marking on the latter one is a large 3T on the right side of the recoil lug. I know about the usual Radom markings on the lower of receiver, just this is very large, just thought I'd mention it.

Is your stock marked with Eagle H on the side? I'm assuming no since you didn't say? Is there any way you could post a few photos, especially the barrel code? I'd like to see if it's DC or Dc (capital C or not)

Hello, I should have stated that it's not the original stock, was sporterized when I bought it. I only put a Steyr stock on it to restore it. Anyway here are the pics you asked for, looks like a capital C, hope this helps.

Here's my bnz43 sn 4268, barrel code ce in script, dc lower case, and e37 x2. Nothing on receiver except small bnz, and small mod98 on siderail. Stock is not original, WaA623 on rear sight base.

Just realized that your bbl code is DQ, not DC. You can barely see the tail of the Q on one photo, that's why I ask for photos for clarity.

Can you confirm that your code is small? Is there a period after the bnz or no?

Small font bnz no period, here are some pics.

Negative Confirmaton

I wanted to bump this thread one more time, if you have a single rune or SS contract rifle that isn't on this list I'd be happy to get the info. From where I stand now, I realize now that I should have asked for right receiver markings on these, as now I find this aspect important. I have some of them already, but haven't added them to this list yet. Also, whether or not stock has Eagle H marking.

If you have one of these on the list, send me a PM if you don't want to post it publicly. I'd appreciate any info on right receiver as well, including bnz4 single rune guns if applicable. Specifically looking for e/623 inspections.

So, before I commit my theory/work on the SS contracts and single rune guns to print, I plan to publicly discuss it. Nobody has ever figured these out but I think I have a pretty good handle on them, we shall see.

Thanks!

My bnz S rhune 43 has no markings on the right side of the receiver and nothing on the stock other than a four digit code on the interior. I've attached a picture of right side of the receiver and the stock markings plus a shot of the left side serial number to match back to my original post. Hope this helps. If there is any other info I can provide, just let me know.

Thanks, that is helpful. It's exactly what I would expect as well, so it's right in line with others. Every contribution to the study helps, the more complete like this the better!

Data on 32 Russian Captures.

32 K98 Russian captures are being sold by Classic Firearms (classicfirearms.com) this week in 4 lots of eight. There is a video for each lot in which each rifle is described including the manufacture, year and serial number of each. Years range from early 30s through 45. You can see numbers and marking reasonable well especially starting with the second lot as they are highlighted in white. Three videos, 24 rifles, are currently posted and I suspect the forth and final video will go up tomorrow afternoon. I don't know if that data would be of value to your study, but thought it was worth posting a note just in case.

So it goes!

It was worth a shot. I've been lurking and reading the various posts and find them fascinating. The wealth of knowledge you and other forum members have is amazing :hail: It illustrates that it is not just the weapons but it is the story behind the weapons that really makes them interesting. Regards.

Good day,
New to the forum and new to K98k's
I just purchased my first k98k and I was wondering if,
A)- is my new rifle a SS contract?
B)-can my rifle aid in your research?
It is an all matching bnz 43
I've attached photos for your review.
Thank you very much for your time!
Cheers
Chris

Agreed, was this in Canada? Is it sportered?
Pics of bands and stock if it isn't please.

Start a thread about it.

Hello,

to me a K98 BNZ43 with serial on receiver and fire proof present with NO top proof is just a BNZ43 NO LETTER block rifle. NOT a SS rifle, But I don't know everything either.
