Questionable Camos

Thanks for posting those again Frank. I had been looking for them. Nice photos of period camos. They kind of look like the replicas, no ?

Did I post those here? I know I did on GHW a few years ago.

Got to get your inspiration somewhere, but fact is that originals do exist.

Here's the whole footage

Pretty interesting to see Germans still under arms mingling with American soldiers, no?

F.

Thanks for posting that Frank. As an aside, that strutting SS officer needed a pistol whipping.

GHW2 exotic camo para. Rare as hen's teeth in the real world.

Zoom in on the crown shot; pristine condition material with several serious chips to bare metal.

And of course we have to have our justifying period photo to make it all believable.

We've all heard it before, how fake camos are self replicating out of the woodwork, how unscrupulous people are creating circulating and marketing these to unsuspecting collectors, but when they appear on forums with a nice period photo of a similar one, the applause is near universal.

Lot 2531: Desirable German Model 40 Stahlhelm Helmet in Rare "Normandy Pat

Headline: Desirable German Model 40 Stahlhelm Helmet in Rare "Normandy Pattern" Tri-Tone Field Camouflage

Estimated Price: $1,500.00 - $2,500.00

Description: As a whole, the Nazis were early pioneers in the field of general-issue camouflage. This was an ad-hoc improvisation by soldiers in the field using whatever material was at hand, typically paint intended to re-spray motor vehicles to match the environment. This one has been sprayed over with a green base coat and patches and streaks of tan and brown, with rough traces of dirt for texture. Though not documented, this method and pattern was known to be in use with the defenders of the Normandy region, and many fell into Allied hands in the aftermath of Operation Neptune. On the interior, "E.E.66" is stamped in the left side of the skirt, "31270" in the rear, and a faint round stamp on the webbing.

GHW2 M42 Normandy with some doubters.

Strong similarities to REX-39s work, fresh rust, RAL colors off, bright colors, but well executed as to wear similar to REX 39's examples.

A bit of decal is exposed, a nice touch that collectors like to see. Somewhat resembles the French restorations,

What I consider to be an authentic M42 Normandy by comparison (IMO). Notice how it is much toned down from the first example.

LOLLLLLLL!!!!!!! I have been a couple of days wondering if you were playing as an actor or you are so simple like this, guess my reply is very easy .
Now im going to speak with your master, so please, stay quiet for a while. This is a question for serious people.

M45:
You have posted three "questionables" helmets in the last two days. A para and two Normandy camos. Ok!!! Apart that you have mixep up two helmets in the last pic. Confusing for many noobs because they arent the same pattern.

For me, the para at firts sight looks ok, as somebody serious, would ask better pics of it or a hand inspection. Not so easy to say by pics, and im sure not even for you.

The other camos are so easy to identify as fake than a child could do it ( well, except Niblet), those helmets no need hand inspection because they are screaming to be a fake. Those helmet shouldnt be in a " questionable camo" thread, they should be in a real fake camo thread.

When we are speaking about handling them, we are speaking about handling helmets with a higher difficult to identify them, not those "psicodelic" works.

Now, Niblet, you can keep saying stupid things

Nothing new here!!!

Lol!!! again late and bad, like allways!!!
The owner is saying that helmet is restored

"I'm glad you noticed. It was stored in a barn and neglected, there is new and old rust. The new rust is more than likely from being moved, falling, etc. however there is quite a lot of nice patina right next to it showing the old rust. . The vibrant colors are because of the sun beating right on it. I will load some lower light pics out of direct sun. For me the helmet cost nearly nothing because the people I got it from had no idea what it was. They were middle aged non collectors and moved onto the property and cleared the old barn. The roached inside is more than likely where water sat for some time as you will notice a bright rust ring and moisture. "

Ask to your informator to tell you those things before posting it, because like allways, it puts you in ridiculous situation :laugh:

I have to say, though i disagree with M45 on almost all points, at least he has obviously thought out his stance and spent time supporting it, posting pics etc. Niblet, have you added one single thing to this thread? Or done any thinking on your own or anything other than worship M45 and everything he says?

what else is there to add? M45 is so thorough, all I can do is support and applaud him,,

its ok, the path to wisdom is but a small trail,,,the masses of sheep continue to run around in the dark

You write your first sentence, then call other people sheep.:facepalm::facepalm::facepalm::facepalm:

As I travel through the valley of bogus camo's let me fear no evil as I have M45 to guide me....LOL "niblet"

Mauser, it is my pleasure to help collectors navigate the treacherous minefields of questionable camos.

Player, you're going to get put in time out soon with these personal shots. I'm going to send you down to where StugIII is penned up, in Infernus. It's OK to have a different opinion, but not OK to deviate from the discussion through personal insults. You wouldn't be allowed to do that elsewhere, at GHW2 for example, so please don't do it here.
Thanks,
HB

Yes,you are right, but the kind of behaviour that M45 is having also wouldnt be allowed in many forum, and in fact he was kicked for this same reason. Everybody´s collection deserves a respet that he doesnt shown

I agree with you. Thanks!

Yes, I was banned from other forums essentially for calling out questionable camos and questionable SS helmets. My behavior appears to be so repulsive to some that they would like to see me banned from here as well :( .

Two interesting German Ebay camos. Very reasonable IMO for what you are getting. Put a fake liner in that Normandy wire camo and you have a decent piece for under $200.

Wouldn't that be so much cheaper than paying 2-4K for basically the same thing from dealers or forum vetted pieces ?
