My BNZ43 Single Rune

This site will surely keep me occupied. It's a tough decision.I had many Japanese but never a German Mauser because most that I saw were rought. This one caught my eye because it had no Russian capture markings. I've seen many that were butchered at gunshows

Honestly if this is available in a store. I would actually call their shop, and see if they can hold it for you. Maybe put a small down payment on it for layaway. Even if it is a bolt mismatched rifle. The price tag of $1200 is a very good price. Collectors pay far more then $1200 for SS contract guns, that are russian capture pieces.

Here's what the bolt shows The gun is still there, theyllyhold it if I want.WW2 bringback

so what happened with this? Did you buy it?
I took people's advice and put more than half down. I'm picking it up in less than 2 weeks. This is more rare than the average high end firearm at a gun shop.I looked over everything again, the bore is perfect and bright. It is not import stamped at all.I was told the lady that sold it said it was brought back by her Father in WW2.The owner of the shop is contacting the lady to find out if any capture papers exist for the gun.I just need to find an original sling for it now.I will have the headspace checked and fully disassemble the rifle. I'll take a lot of photos

I have to look closer when I get it,the bolt looked like it was re blued possibly. If the owner can find her father's bring ack papers showing it was a capture that may help.Inknow sometimes bolts were mismatched but for $1,200 I thought it was a good deal.

Here's some more pics, picked up the Mauser yesterday $1,200 was alot of money but I believe we'll spent. The lady who sold it to the shop couldn't find her Father's bring back paperwork from WW2 .If she does she has my contact number..The sight doesn't match the bolt numbers are hard to read. Can anyone tell me about the letter on the stock. The bore is so bright on the lowest setting.

So the good news: looks to be an authentic SS contract ‘single rune’ receiver and bottom metal. I also think 1200 for it ain’t too bad. Like I said before, people will want that or more for an RC rune rifle.

The bad: That isn’t the original stock and the I believe the numbers on the barrel bands are fake.

Makes me think that the rifle was original sporterized and then someone tired to remilitarize it and make it appear more matching.

Looks like a sporter that someone was trying to put back as a k98 . Or single ruin.if they new that. I remember years ago before books the single ruin was thought to be Hitler youth.

Thanks for the input, I'm glad I asked everyone here for their opinion. Now I feel bad because I could have purchased a SD suppressor and entry level rifle for that price.Thectag said numbers not matching. It's a reputable shop maybe they're not thorough like everyone here.Should I go bitch about this and try to get my money back or just live with it and learn a lesson. The barrel, receiver are SS contract

Thank you for all your input everyone.I though I made a decent decision on purchasing the BNZ.I now realize the receiver barrel and some parts are original and am disgusted on a part that has fake added numbers. The stock isn't correct.$1,200 is alot of money. The bore is incredible.Should I just junk it for a loss or just make it a great hunting gun

From the start we had suspected it would be at least a bolt mismatch. The shop represented it fairly. It is the consensus here that you got your moneys worth. These rifles are not common . You can get those other items any day. That’s how collections start

Most all of us here have made purchases like this starting out in the collection of K98s. When I started out, I have made a purchase that I thought / advertised as an all matching K98. It wasn't so I know the feeling. I have since learned from it and now use my gun as a shooter and I have a lot of fun with it. If you are planning to get into the K98 collection hobby, use this as a learning experience and keep it for now. Some have said that the $1200 wasn't too bad given the receiver being authentic. It does have some collectability and could be a nice shooter. You can learn a lot from this site too.
