I vote to keep it. has some value as stated above plus a fun shooter! A gem compared to my old BYF-44 super mix-matcher I had.

Most all of us here have made purchases like this starting out in the collection of K98s. When I started out, I have made a purchase that I thought / advertised as an all matching K98. It wasn't so I know the feeling. I have since learned from it and now use my gun as a shooter and I have a lot of fun with it. If you are planning to get into the K98 collection hobby, use this as a learning experience and keep it for now. Some have said that the $1200 wasn't too bad given the receiver being authentic. It does have some collectability and could be a nice shooter. You can learn a lot from this site too.

What’s wrong with it? Who gives a damn about the renumbered parts, you have an authentic SS action in a stock with all hardware in good serviceable condition. AND, you don’t have to feel bad about plinking with it.

I’d say $1200 isn’t that bad at all if you ask me, given the action being what it is. If it makes you feel better, find some correct armorer’s bands here on the forum and that would take care of your parts issue.

I might as well keep this rifle since the receiver barrel and some other parts are true BNZ SS contract.I decided I will make this a beautiful shooter-hunting firearm.I need helping finding the correct stock for it.Possibly and new reproduction and or old original and I need to find a correct bolt that the Steyr BNZ would have had.Any help would be appreciated I was going to put money in a nice modern gun but the classics are always great.

The underside of the bolt root you showed a picture of may show Polish markings, I’m not sure. Interested to hear other’s thoughts. Please do a picture set on all the bolt markings to include all serialized pieces

These are all I can find for markings.The extractor is waffen marked,I see Germany on the bolt and what looks like an Eagle also on the bolt

I may be selling the gun I purchased last week.I found out from these great people here it's an original BNZ43 Single Rune SS contract Receiver,barrel and a few other parts.The stock is not original,and the bolt has no numbers to be found on it.The bore is amazing and bright.I spent $1,200 on the firearm.I should have spent my money on a nice AR build but was disappointed to find a few items on the gun were skeptical.This is something I have to think over whether to sell it or not.

The gas shroud appears to be buffed and reblued. The side view of the root makes it appear to be abbreviated. Could you post a picture of a top view of the root?

For what it’s worth it’s a neat rifle, I wouldn’t be out shooting it, but that’s just me.
