I found this for sale,it doesn't look like a Russian capture no x markings. I'm not confident in this because I lack the knowledge you all have. The sersil numbers look correct, not sure about the buttplate.

Bolt match? Internal stock numbers? Looks good so far.

Some good info and trends for you.

I have not checked the bolt and the stock has no visible numbers on either side. For what they're asking it could be a great value.I was deciding on a new Carry gun or this.If it's authentic it's a piece of history unlike the mass produced firearms today. I may go take some more pics tomorrow

No one came out and said it but this is an SS contract rifle, and if the rest checks out, I wouldn’t leave the store without it. They are desirable and not often encountered in this condition. The bolt might mismatch with the WaA280 on the extractor collar. A good honest bolt M/M is ok too. Good luck.

Thanks I appreciate the info, it's for sale for $1200,I may have to purchase it.

The stock should not have any acceptance stamps externally and the barrel channel (inside) should have the same serial as on the receiver internally. Magazine housing should be serialized but not bands.
Here is a link to mine that’s a few thousand away from yours

I don't own it yet, it's for sale for $1,200. I may have to purchase this

I'll go back on Tuesday and look over more thoroughly. Those are just quick photos. The bore was outstanding.I usually use the old firearms I have. I'll get numbers of the bolt and post.

I saw it right away and you guys are on it. Steyr 'bullseye' on a Bohler blank... no suffix and that was already in my mind. Condition looks to be really nice.

Honestly if this is available in a store. I would actually call their shop, and see if they can hold it for you. Maybe put a small down payment on it for layaway. Even if it is a bolt mismatched rifle. The price tag of $1200 is a very good price. Collectors pay far more then $1200 for SS contract guns, that are russian capture pieces.

Going back Tuesday and do some more investigating.Small towns are great. Some people are more interested in the new firearms.I will see if they can hold until Friday.

I would also say it appears to be a good buy. Even if the bolt doesn’t match, and it looks like the stock was hit as well, its still an SS contract ‘single rune’. Guys want more than 1200 for those when they are just RC’s.

I'm glad I found this site,I never knew much about the German firearms

Those are pretty well structured & will eventually "grow" on ya, but some did change slightly during the last calendar year of hostilities.
I've found that the subcontractor codes are where it gets interesting, & then of course we graduate to the districts, depots & HzA's with their own unique markings - there is no known cure.
