    AX 1940, Authentic Russian Capture?

I can say that the rifle was certainly a Russian Capture. These rifles were forced matched and refurbished by the Soviets. Generally the only parts that are original to the rifle are the barrel, receiver and rear sight base. All other parts are from other WWII produced K98's (sometimes the...

    Polish Wz29 1937

Sadly sporterized but luckily the metal hasn't been touched (except for the two front bands and bayonet lug). I do not know why someone would go to so much work to sporterize a rifle in such a minimalistic fashion. Really? - Three piece inlay for the sling cut out???? Maybe lost 4 oz's of...

ZF41 Tan Can and Wooden Brush

On the latch there is a commercial logo (circle and some other geometric shapes) but there is one small but missing marking on the repro's I speak of. Other than this one missing marking - this batch of repro's were 98% correct/aged and even smelled correct. As per the brush, the brush that...

ZF41 Tan Can and Wooden Brush

Okay - I trust your knowledge and experience. About a decade ago, Northridge purchased a bunch of excellent 'replicas' sold as originals from Europe with the identical wooden brush. These cans were top notch and identical to any originals in my collection except they missed one tiny detail on...

ZF41 Tan Can and Wooden Brush

Do you have a picture of the latch? It looks very much like some cans Northridge International had about a decade ago - especially the brush which gives me some suspicions.

    SSZZA4 Rifle VZ24 Receiver

I agree with mauser99 - the rifle can certainly be saved as the metal hasn't been touched and I certainly think it is worth saving. It will never be 100% correct, but it can certainly look much better!!

    AJACK Scope. 26.5 or 27mm?

I would guess 26.5 - if you have a set of calipers you can check. I ran into this problem pre-hunting season. I have a vintage Kahles scope that I wanted to put on HVA 9,3x62. I assumed as a European scope it must be 30mm - nope 26.5mm. Luckily I have a few vintage rings and stole a pair off...

    LSR Sniper clone advice

Nothing wrong with restoring or cloning a piece like this. I enjoy saving rifles!!!

    BCD G43 a Block W/ Scope Rig

Upon viewing it quickly I didn't notice but the scope position but it is horribly mounted...lol Screws the wrong way as stated and the inlet in the scope mates with a notch in the mount (which is hidden by the scope and bands) to prevent sliding with recoil. Should be a simple enough of a fix...

    BCD G43 a Block W/ Scope Rig

I love the rifle. I was told by Darrin Weaver (author of "Hitlers Garands" and "Rough Forged") a few years ago that no bcd rifles left the factory as snipers. If completed at the field level, that is a possibility. In regards to the mount/scope on your rifle they both look original. To be...

    Identifying rifle

Looks promising! Some of the metal and the scope body have been cleaned at some point - you can see the fine scratches on the finish, likely down with steel wool or possible even a fine grit sandpaper. Nevertheless, if better pictures prove this to be legit as it looks, it would still have...

    G43 ac44 without side rail

Many of the milled contracted receivers seem to be missing the rail for some odd reason. I believe they were milled off if they did not meet specific accuracy requirements.

This a good deal? - G43 with duffle cut - what's wrong with it??

He actually advertises on his web page that he fixes these "cracks" which we know are "not cracks". Hence why 10x years ago I fixed a similar seam thinking that I was doing the correct thing, luckily it was on a shooter grade rifle which is no longer in my collection.

CE 41 Russian Capture - crack in trigger guard, safe to shoot?

Many old Military and Commercial Mausers have similar cracks. I would not worry about it. If you are still concerned you can always add some crazy glue, clamp and let dry and then re-assemble, but I doubt that it will get any worse if you shoot it.

This a good deal? - G43 with duffle cut - what's wrong with it??

Is that the bottom of the action cover? If so that is correct! They were stamped and what looks like a "crack" at the 6' o'clock position is simply a stamping seam and should not be repaired as that would actually decrease the value of the rifle. Now if you have similar 'cracks' on the rear of...

Can I get some information/price evaluation on this rifle?

The metal looks cleaned as well - base plate etc...some is honest wear and some is steel wool. Still a decent rifle.

    Battle field damaged bcd g43

I think simply an uneducated and unfounded ethnocentric "American" conclusion. ;) Somewhat teasing of course - but that would be a logical explanation for a US GI during the war, especially if they never came across any Soviet arms. It simply HAD to be a copy of a US design and America single...

    Battle field damaged bcd g43

I have told this story before, but years ago I passed on a Soviet Refurb SVT40 - I stopped counting at 20x stock repairs/patches - why they bothered saving a stock that suffered that much damage was beyond me (I can only assume shrapnel damage). In hindsight, it would have been a nice rifle to...

G43 scope mount real or fake ?

I agree on the 'font' being off. However - I have seen odd fonts on legit mounts - Added post war? Or Added in a non-typical fashion during the war? We will never no on some pieces. I also agree on the lever being off. Not the best photo's but overall the mount itself does look 'scary good' to...

    Bubba'd front site base

I like the threaded muzzle and I am happy that you are going to take the time to restore this piece. As stated above - remove the pin with a punch. I believe the front sight assembly is pressed fit vs soldered from memory, but I could be wrong. I had to replace the front sight assembly myself...
