Great looking gun. I’ve got a walnut one about 1k away and have always been concerned about the lack of chatter on the stock but feel much better seeing this one which is clearly untouched and original. Mine looks pretty similar with crips stamps. Any thoughts on why so well finished so late...

1944 DOU Russian Capture - Good First K98k?

Like mike said. It looks just as it left Russia varnish and all. And yes not as “collectable”, but still it’s 750-800 for something that we were buying up for 99-129 all day. So not bad appreciation either. You’re on the way and you won’t lose any money.

To the earlier point made I wonder how many of these are out there? By my count there are something like 9-10 counted in this thread? Obviously a sn study won’t work! Mike you have a couple in the book - did you ever get a count?

Here's my two bcd 45s. apologies for the crap pics but I would never post otherwise. couple observations: all the sights are free and no solder. The set screw on one stands proud, and the other was ground on the bottom to sit flush. neither are drilled and set properly. one has a replacement...

    Imperial ammunition!

I love those two -- never seen the earlier type and the markings are great. mine has none at all. Storz's book has a great section on these, with some amazing pics of bandoliers folded up in to so-called "battle packs", which in turn would have been loaded into a Patronenkasten 88. I've got a...

    Imperial ammunition!

so it's been a while since I posted this on some imperial 8MM I had picked up. and it's been that long since I found any more, but hey you never know what might turn up at Allentown. 46 rounds all 1918 dated, all from the same maker. and all stained from being on a cloth belt. kinda cool. of...

    bnz45 T block

Beautiful i need one of these! I’ve got 5 bnz 45s and always wanted a late unproofed and/or unaccepted T block to complete the group and just never got around to it. Always seemed to be a few floating around so figured no rush and just waited too long....but seeing this pop up like this maybe...

Nice. SWPs with standard rear sights are actually harder to find than the sheet metal sights!

    First K98k - dou 44

Also a dou fan and have found that really nice guns can be had reasonably so don’t mind the underappreciation. I think it’s because they aren’t as marked up and tend to be very consistent. A little bland to some eyes.

    Turd SS bnz45

Yeah like mike said been around those runes are pretty distinctive. It is too bad as someone mentioned tho that it was a nice matching action - late and unproofed/no acceptance so woulda made a nice project. Kinda like all those nice M-42’s wearing Champaign runes now those are all turds as well

Pics of the Mauser factory in June 1945

Amazing pictures. I had no idea that the muzzle covers were used in the factory I thought only in the field but makes sense. The stocks do not appear to have any finish. And why are the bolts missing on the guns in the interior shots?

Love these! I’ve got a couple and neither’s sights are soldered. Let me dig them out and take some pics.

1941 Portuguese Contract K98k - are these more sought after by collectors?

Oh boy I’d have to look thru my paperwork. Some of the other folks here might remember but I’ll try and check. They ran ads at the time in SGN. I bought a cupped example and an earlier flat but plate. The cupped was select or something and like 400? And the flat was a lesser grade and 275...

1941 Portuguese Contract K98k - are these more sought after by collectors?

For me it’s a well known variant that’s not uncommon so many folks feel it’s something to have in the collection. Also to the above points most are in new condition and that’s just about impossible for a ‘41 so it’s a good way to see/show what an early one looked like as it left the factory...
