Need some help with a repro ZF39

Shim it with a small piece of metal and JB weld. If done neatly it is unnoticeable and strong. There is a small screw under the block attaches it to the metal frame. However, you will need to remove the entire elevation mechanism from the tube to access it. If you feel lucky you can go for it.

    Reproduction K98k Sniper Values

I like it I like the rifle - enjoy it. How does it shoot? What kind of scope are you using? I would use the locking screws and and fill the pin holes in. It looks a bit incomplete as is. I would expect $400 for the rifle (current pricing), $500 for the barrel (with labor), $350 for the...

    Reproduction K98k Sniper Values

Recently Put Together LT I had this one re-barreled (Lothar Walther). A price range of $1500 to $2000 is not unreasonable - even if all the parts are low-end.

    ZIP scope question

Low turret has opposing screws on the upper mount (just above the locking lever). Move the scope in the direction you want the point of impact to go (move scope left to shift POI left). It can be tricky to get dead-on. Wind and different ammunition will require you to visually compensate for...

    ZIP scope question

Locking levers lock the upper mount to the lower mount (does not adjust windage). The dial on top of the scope adjusts elevation. You do not indicate the type of mount, which makes answering your question difficult. Regards!

Soldering a turret mount onto a rifle?

You are correct. Solder is stronger - no debate. However, finding someone that will do it can be difficult. Regards!

    Reproduction German Post Reticle Optic

I would not say they are Junk. Quirky may be a better description. I have one that has lasted 600+ rounds. A Zeiss - no, but they can be functional. I shot an .8-inch, five shot, 100-yard group with a reproduction Zeiss ZF39 last week. Several manufactures make modern scopes with the picket...

Soldering a turret mount onto a rifle?

It looks like the experts have chimed in. If you are trying to make a perfect replica, what they say is very relevant. If not - I can testify JBWeld works. Especially in combination with screws. However, the metal prep is very important. My smith had an epoxy that was permanent (stronger...

Soldering a turret mount onto a rifle?

Epoxy I have used JBWeld. It looks a bit like solder and has considerable strength. In combination with the screws it should work nicely. Just make sure that you prep the surfaces properly. I did a BNZ single claw and used the JB weld for the front mount (no screws there). The SC front...

Need some help with a repro ZF39

The opposing screws on the rear mount adjust windage. Move the scope in the direction that you want the POI to shift. Loosen one screw; tighten the other. Make sure both are tight once zeroed. Elevation is adjusted via the larger knob on top of the scope. Once zeroed, you can loosen the...

Problems in accuracy of a Mauser

If a barrel is badly pitted, I don't think counterboring or a recrown will help since the new crown will most likely have pits in it. A good gunsmith might be able to smooth out the crown to make it consistant. Of course, I had a very bad gunsmith that actually made the rifle shoot worse. A...
