    Pile of “Wood”

Not following. Salvageable or cut in a way that makes them useless? Even then I used a takedown disk and recoil lug from one like this for my minelis repro stock, so there is that. Crossbills of that 03a3 stock, also useful .

Loctite 638 for scope mount, like RSM suggest. Anyone actually done this?

I know the right way is soldering the scope to the rings, but has anyone built a clone HT with solid rings and used Loctite like RSM suggests? https://www.redstarmountain.com/hesk/download_attachment.php?kb_att=2 I have a clone HT build with solid rings from accumounts and a vintage ww2 era...

    "Repro" sniper rifle builders?

You can do the math youself: Rifle: $1000 for a decent shooter Mounts: $200 Scope: $270 for a repro, $300+ for vintage scope Work: $300+ depending on what mount and what else needs to be done So you could get a clone for under $2000. You have a few mount options, turret or claw, or side...

Late was JPS stock, what is this on the metal?

This is a 43 jps stock, but what is this on the metal? Paint , corrosion? Some of it chipped off the buttplate already. Did I just screw up some original finish?

Somewhere between $1 and $10,000 based on the information provided. In other words , if you want a more usable answer , you need to provide more usable information. Look at other threads to understand what information and at what detail are used to make a value assessment.

Restored sporter and stock matching, does it matter to anyone but me?

Something that bugs me a little, so wanted to see if it is just my OCD, or if it's something others thought about. I have two restored sporter k98k, a 39 Erma and a 38 BLM. Both are matching bolt and metal. The Erma was only missing front bands and had butchered stock, while the BLM had no...

    Czech or German stock?

A recent Trader post got me curious about a stock I had in my parts stash for a while. Is this German, or post war Czech? How does one tell the difference? it has a cleaning rod channel and retaining nut for the cleaning rod.

    Putting magazine floorplate back on

Honestly, STOP. You will screw up a rifle that cost you good money. This, and the stock refinishg thread... Trust me, if you are doing this stuff for the first time, just stop. There is NO NEED for any filing, grinding, sanding, or whatever. On your other thread, on the stock. I have a beat...

I'm suprised at the replies here. OP, what are you trying to achieve? Whatever it is on the rifle, are trying to get down to bare walnut? The stock looks walnut, and had decent color, at least from the pictures you posted. I may dull it a little with alcohol, or 000 steel wool like you...

How about you just wait until you get the rifle in hand, and then decide on what to do depending on what the finish looks like in person. swjXe suggested cleaning it with thinner, then followed by:

    Need Help with Identification

Everything can be fixed with enough money, but not everything is worth fixing. Outside of the rear sight being messed with, how is the front of the barrel? How is the bore ? Assuming g you got this for free, do you really want to drop another $500 or so to make the rifle look like a ww2 k98k?

    Need Help with Identification

Real k98k that has been sporterized , drilled for scope mount, had its rear sight removed and , was reblued, and lost its original bolt and stock . It’s worth about as much as you paid for it .
