OWS CE43 K98k from France

I picked this up from Navy Arm’s/Old Western Scrounger last week. They imported a small batch of K98k’s (around 15 rifles) that were found in the same storage facility as the MAS 36/51’s, 49/56’s, MAC 50’s, FRF2 Snipers, and Enfields.

The rifles were in varying different conditions and codes. Only one appeared to have the French style sling slot added to the stock. They were priced high, but I had some overtime money burning a hole in my pocket and I thought the fact they came out of French military stores was neat.

I’m not sure if these rifles were confiscated/used by the police/military after the war or what the story may be.

While the finish on this CE43 is worn, all of the metal parts were covered in a dried film of grease or black enamel paint. The bluing is in perfect shape under the wood line. All parts I can see appear matching and correct for this 1943 JP Sauer. I can’t really make out the numbers under the paint on the bolt shroud, and I didn’t want to remove the paint.

Anybody else grab one?
