The Time Has Come - Forum Software Change

Wow! The changeover was so seamless I didn't even notice a difference!

I can't stand the new gunboards forum, and it isn't because I hate change. The giant advertisements are absurd, with stupid products I would never buy. I get an email every time someone posts, but the admins tell me there is no way to change that. I don't get notifications when someone "starts a conversation" so I have no way of knowing I got one...

Happy to contribute to the new board.
 
The new format is coming soon. Everything is worked out behind the scenes and the switch will be soon (had to reschedule), but to the ads on Gunboards - we won’t have those for sure since we don’t have advertisements. Well, just our books and the MRJ.

In case anyone noticed ( :googlie ) there was an issue tonight. I would love to tell you it was the upcoming changes that caused it. No, the issue was the software we are using currently (VBulletin 4.2.2.) clashed with a PHP update on the server side I guess. In laymen terms, new tires no fit on wagon wheels.

This is the reason we are updating to the new software. This kind of failure is the future of our current format. But, never fear, I'm working on it.

Ok, its getting closer. Took some time off for other things, but I'm working on this again, as is the tech. You guys post a lot of photos.

Due to that, when the switch to the new Xenforo happens, down time will be much longer than 1 hour. I'm not going to guess how long, but the entire database has to be copied again and then synced, which will mean down time. I'll give a heads up, but if you come to the forum and its turned off for a while, that may be a sign.

So does that mean we should go study are k98k Mausers longer or go take them out and actually shoot them for once while the fourm is down then? :biggrin1::biggrin1::biggrin1:

If you did, It’s not styled yet, just the basic out of the box style. Been testing things. [emoji41]

Yes. There are some issues here and there to fix, but had to turn it on to address them. Images are populated but the thumbnails are still syncing and search is still rebuilding.
