What do you think I would do with one Doug?![]()
Uh, yaaa ... You'd bury it in a pig pile and then run it over with a T34 ... for starters.

Hi Guy's
I have the MKB 42 from SSD, I really hope they start selling again because I cannot replace my gas piston and bolt carrier with WW2 parts, they are not available like STG original parts. I have not had any issues so far but I have read all "Dogs" posts and know that it could happen! I love the damn rifle so much!I joined the forum because of all of your excellent posts and will include a pic of my rifle with bayonet mounted as soon as I figure out how to do it!
Regards,Dave
Nice Dave -
I have seen Mkb42 bolt carriers turn up once or twice in the Wehrmacht awards slammers section - people wondering why the MP44 carrier they found looks so different, to others, etc.,
I would imagine shooting as it was intended without the added US made parts, or after-factory work having to be done for importation, it should be Ok for a while - the open bolt has to be fun to shoot, no - ?
Have you considered doing a field strip video for youtube? There are a handful of short videos on youtube of them being fired, but nothing in depth.I must admit shooting it the first time was weird with the open bolt, but you soon become accustomed to it and it's a blast! thanks for the tip about parts I will check out that site.

All 3000 MP38's sold in Canada where bought back from thier owners by the Canadian Govt a couple of years ago, the story is they where to easily converted to full auto although no one could point to a specific case where this had happened. It was seen as total bullshit and the guys that owned them are still pissed as they where beautiful weapons.Lucky guy to have an Mkb42. I've been asking SSD to send those over as well. Buuuut ... we probably won't see them as they would have to come up with additional USA made parts for .922r. Given that much fewer ppl know what that rifle is, but know what an MP44/STG44 and a MP38/MP40 is, there's probably not a lot of profit in it for them to tool up any additional USA made parts for the Mkb42 ? Hmm ... Which somewhat suggests that's the reason for only the MP38 and MP44 being shown at this time on the Waffenfabrik site and no GK43 or FG42 Type 1 or 2.
Also interesting question: I wonder if SSD fixed the MP38 issue that owners who bought them from I.O., Inc. reported of the internals locking up if the trigger is pulled while the bolt is pulled back in the "safe" position? Any news on that one Dingo? I know I.O., Inc. reported to owners how to fix it, but you know people will pull that trigger when the bolt's back there. Sooo...yeah.
I have my popcorn and beer again.![]()
I actually had my daughter shoot a video of me firing the MKB at my local range, its only seconds long and the three shots come off like a burst scaring the crap out of the guy sighting in his Sako just down from me. I will do a field strip video and shoot very soon. I am currently waiting for another ZF41 scope mount from France, I currently have one from my Shoei but the rings are too large for ZF.
Dave
We will try that in the video, if nobody's at the range!
Interesting, how many rounds do you have through the rifle? Does it or has it ever jammed? (FTF/FTE)
I don't think we'll ever see them in the U.S. because they fire from an open bolt. Sad.
HDH.
Hi,
Only 60 rounds through it, I just ordered more ammo it will be here Monday! I will get the Hornady dies and reload this winter. Right now I'm getting it from TradeexCanada for twenty bucks a box https://www.tradeexcanada.com/content/prvi-partizan-792x33-kurz-ammunition-124gr-fmj-bt--
Dave, PS no jams it like to run.
My PTR44 broke down after 500 rounds so time will tell,
good luck.
HDH.
Any word on how the other SSD products stood up, or is it specific to the BD44 for problems?
BD38 (MP38)
BD3008 (German STEN)
BD44 (MP44)
BD42H (Mkb42(H))
