K98k Laminate Stock Date and Supplier Codes

I was looking at your byf43 "f" block with walnut stock and I have to say, it's a beautiful rifle.

I have problems to recognize the walnut supplier code. Usually I would say it's "Ha", however the shape of the first letter looks more like a "R".

Glad to help.

I have always assumed it was an "R" myself. It definitely doesn't look like an "H" but could maybe be a poorly struck "B"?

Laminate glue letter stamp 'K'

'K' stamp as found on S/42 1937, sn. 6040w. No date code or laminate supplier stamped either in barrel channel
or rear of buttplate. We know from Mauser records that the use of laminated beech stocks began in Oct. 1937
with 1,180 K98ks fitted with laminate stocks in that month.

Stephan, here is one for you. I don't have a lot of MO rifles that are not either restorations or reworks, etc. I do have 2 byf44 with matched stocks, but they are devoid of any markings under the buttplate or on the keel.


byf43, 5 digit serial (26111)

Ha 1 2 43 Physically stamped, no marking on keel



Not MO, but...ar42 (SN 1532 d, zf.41 rifle, flat buttplate laminate)

12.2. (and nothing else is intelligible) ink stamped

The invoice is from May 23, 1911 and the object is a parlor-table. The 50 Pfennig are for packaging.

Date reads 6-25-41 so it should be June 21st of that year. A Saturday if the date calculator I used was accurate.

The letter P is stamped behind the grip ball.

Because of the serial number 8108f in the other thread I said: "I assume there is a stamp like this "Bu 2 26 41". I can't tell the exact day, but my guess should be very close. I mean a date around June 24, 1941."

The actual code is "Bu 6 25 41" and like you said, stock completion was June 21, 1941. My guess had a deviation of just 3 days.

Found this after removing some crud. Rifle is a mismatch based on an ar 44 action with FN barrel. Yugo rework from what experts here tell me.

First character appears to be a 6, A, or H followed by 2 18 43.

No K or P present on keel. Could've been sanded or worn off.

Gulag, thank you and the stock completion date code is "Bo 2 18 43".

The "Bo" is the abbreviation of the laminate supplier and the date is May 4, 1943. I assume the stock is from a Mauser Oberndorf byf43, either late "d" or more likely, a "e" block.

I apologize for submitting an action/stock mismatch as that was outside the scope of this thread. As recompense, I offer the following info on my bolt/action/stock match:

byf 41 - 1058i

Ha 4 10 41 under the butt plate. P is present on keel. There is also an S present some distance from the date code.

I havent torn it down for other markings on the inside of stock.
But the gun is maybe 85%
With excellant bore and all numbers matching.

Nothing matches the stock unfortunately, including the HG, but hopefully this helps. I'm assuming its a 1938? Oberndorf.
