GYC Fg42

I have one of Ricks 2nd model fg42 from his last build and let me say WOW it is a work of art, and it shoots great no issues with the rifle or mag's that where included. I did have a few issues with extra mag's but Rick walked me through how to correct the issue I have 160 rounds through and it is perfect. Looking forward to the first model, Rick is a artist

Just curious if the smg fg42/1 recoils into the buttstock like the type 2 fg42. I know on my original type 1, the buttstock does not do this, but is locked firmly in place.

Hi Sen,
The Shoei type I does not allow the receiver to recoil into the stock as far as on the type II because as the stock is pushed on it preloads the buffer spring almost all the way before clipping in place. That said there is still a small amount of travel left and the remaining amount of buffer movement is on the recoil spring side of it. This is the way ours works and based on what I see in the type I manual and the references I have read it looks right.
That said you are the second person I have seen say there is NO amount of movement of the receiver into the buffer. I would really like to know for sure....

Rick

On my type 1, serial number 18xx, there is no play. The stock snaps tightly into position and does not move during recoil like the type 2. I was always curious about this because a lot of the reading I've done on the fg42 say both versions use the stock to buffer the recoil.
