Feldfernsprecher 33 - Field Telephone 33

Looking at the 45 dated one it has a few broken connections. I have no need to use it, I'd buy another early one if I wanted a set to play with.

More interesting pictures....

How cool is that? After 70 years, and going through battle, these things still work. I am lucky if I can get three or four years out of a modern phone.

I am definitely going to have to get the headset/throat mic setup. Switchboard too.

Another picture showing reenactors with an FF 33 and switchboard:

Interesting. I thought they all had the green stripe that signifies a design difference between the first generation FF 33 and FF 33 made after about 1938. This helped prevent using incompatible components in the two designs. Did different branches of service each have their own color?

What is the purpose for the thing below the sling connector?

Does NVK have anything to do with the Norwegian navy? I have no clue.

..............................

this is what N.V.K stands for

The headquarters of the NVA was still based in Kiel and moved about 1938 to a newly built, and
huge, compound in Kiel-Dietrichsdorf. The NVA organisation also changed their organisation
and command structure and got the new designation “
N
achrichtenmittel
v
ersuchs
k
ommando” or
NVK. (communication research command)

You can read about this navy telefon in that online book you linked too!
Lots of great stuff in that book

Ah, yes. It is in the book. It covered a socket for a special cord.

Didn't the Nachrichtenmittel Versuchs Kommando oversee radar and sonar research and development projects for the Kreigsmarine?

Really nice find.
