Oh that is so cool! I am not entirely sure, but I think you can multiplex telephone calls over a single two conductor cable with those transformers. I know the transformers also allow you to convert from single conductor cable/earth to two conductor.

ff33 and more

two more!! very interesting is the boxed spareparts, and the note in german the telephone has not been taken apart since the war until now by me :happy0180:

Did you buy that Bluetooth interface I recommended a while back? Connect it to your Amtsuszatz and it will be possible if you send me your telephone number.

I would really like to figure out how to connect the Amtsuzatz to Skype. There must be a way.

BTW, I am now in the process of planning to build an Abspannbock:

I already have a set of porcelain insulators that are the right size. The tricky part will be constructing the clamping mechanisms to secure the insulator boards to the poles.

It would be cool if you guys could hook up with these phones. Keep us posted!

I am old enough to remember when I was a kid living in Chicago, it was a really big deal when my dad got a long distance call from relatives in New York City. It had to be connected via long distance operator, since there was no direct dial long distance yet. It was a super big deal as late as the 1980s to speak with someone in Europe on the telephone. I made my first international phone call in 1989 and I though it was so cool. BTW, the call quality was horrible. Now, I can video Skype my daughter and relatives in Europe for free.
