    Newbie with K98 AR 41

This is a collector's forum so I doubt you'll get much help, we don't like destroying history. I suggest you sell your K98k and take the money and buy a traditional deer rifle. If it is indeed a vet bring back you shouldn't have any trouble finding a buyer and come up with enough money to be...

    50s Yugo Surplus 8mm.

Didn't know where to post this but this is some of the old 50s Yugo surplus we used to get ten years ago. Really good stuff on stripper clips to boot. Not as cheap as it used to be but not outrageous plus you get the stripper clips. Mods feel free to move this to another section...

    Bore Question

Pictures?? Let us see it and Lord don't restore it unless it's just a mess. Restoring old military rifles often makes a $2000 rifle a $500 rifle. Again let the experts here see it before you do anything to it you might wind up regretting.

    Swedish m/41

The m/41Bs were an upgrade. In 1955 the AGA42 and AGA44 rifles were surplussed and the remaining m/41s had their Ajack scopes retrofitted with improved multi-coated lenses. The letter B was stamped on the left side of the ranging turret housing next to the scope's serial number. A new short side...

    Swedish m/41

Here's something a little different, my Swedish m/41. The Swedes picked m/96s that were known to be the most accurate for the conversions. Sitting on top is an AGA 42, 3X scope which was the first Swedish made scope needed after the Germans figured they needed their Ajacks more than Sweden did...

    98k dark Stock finish/stain?

Just a warning, today's boiled linseed oil has a cobalt based drier in it and can get varnish like if applied too thick or if coats are built up. If you really have to apply oil thin the stuff liberally with mineral spirits or pure gum turpentine for the first coat. Buff it heavily an hour after...

    98k dark Stock finish/stain?

Wouldn't the barrel channel or pulling the buttplate give you the answer as to whether the stock was stained? I also have read that during shortages of sealers on the front lines the German soldier would try to waterproof his Mauser's stock with all sorts of stuff, even dirty motor oil.

Mint Matching Kreigsmodell bcd4 K98k Mauser Rifle

Correction.......that stock would only look good from 6 feet away if I took my glasses off. Works with some of the women I've met too.

The humpmeister should have bought Karem and Steves books. Invaluable for catching turds like this. On reflection we should be glad he didn't.

    1936 bSw

The first thing I thought was odd was a rare rifle and no bids at $1200. Guy's feedback isn't exactly stellar either, nobody's bidding on anything he has.

Red glue laminate stock too. The 1936 doesn't match up to the one in Karabiner 98k either.

Mauser shooting low at 100 yards

Though PPU shoots decent in other rifles it is horrible in my K98ks. I usually shoot 196 gr. Yugo surplus some of which is M75. At 100 yds. I'm usually aiming at the bottom of a 12" bullseye.

1944 WWII GERMAN ZB M98 MAUSER RIFLE, DOU. My first 98.

I think Mr. Farb settled it over at GBs. His opinion works for me. I Like the door buster butt plate on it.

1944 WWII GERMAN ZB M98 MAUSER RIFLE, DOU. My first 98.

Shellac would be much glossier unless hit with pumice or 0000 wool but it's hard to get an even sheen using very fine abrasives. To me it has the BLO look about it. Some debate at that other site as to whether the stock is a repro. It doesn't look 74 years old.
