    Depot/field repaired rifle value?

I think what drives the value of matching correct rifles now to these levels is the certainty of what is “correct”, and the breadth of that knowledge among a large group of collectors with mike and Bruce’s fine work. Bid with confidence! I too would have said that these would go for a little...

    mismatched bolt bringbacks

Like Phillip I’m old enough to have talked to plenty of vets who just happened to be a friends dad etc. when I was a kid. Actually it was more “listen” than talk. Heard the “ one pile for the bolt another for the gun” story more than once.

bcd 45 86980 matching action and metal

Wait - so this is an original MO semi-kriegsmodell zf-41 stock? Holy cow. Bruce I see why. An original MO semi stock would be a find worth quite a bit on its own. I’d pay a good buck for one. But ZF on top of that? Also, the late MO semi stocks are not menzel C stocks but MO made I believe...

    For The Most Advanced Collector

It’s basically an action and some parts, all pretty well worn too. Forget the bolt and stock and bands are meh. And it’s Sarco too! Shame on them. “ missing the buttplate indeed!

MG bbl. with crack at the wrist.

I've got an MG barrelled bcd 4 (99412) with a crack at the wrist. It's never really bothered me as it's an uncommon gun and I have no plans to shoot. I'm also a carpenter, and can tell you that a crack against the grain of a piece of plywood like this would take quite a bit of force! I've always...

New DOT 44 Acquisition and Kriegsmodell Stock Questions

I have one with uncut screws that I know are original to the gun so they did happen. I also bought a bunch of the Numrich screws and agree -- cheap and a good thing to have in the spares box esp if a late war collector!

Rarest K98k you have come across?

"Rare" might be an overstatement but certainly hard to find in this condition. I've shared this one before but why not again! If you're a late war collector this one is kind of a trifecta. Found at an estate sale, it was in a soft case marked "german rifle" and I could see the take-down...

New DOT 44 Acquisition and Kriegsmodell Stock Questions

Second that. I might be tempted to just leave as is. Lots of “improved” bnz 45s with screws now that never had them. That’s too bad and we’ll never know. Is the wood threaded as if a screw was there?
