byf45 HT Without the Extra 135 Proof

I agree, Brian. In this particular case, there are a multitude of other verifying factors and I for one would overlook the proof's absence and be proud to have it. But yes, I am also very curious why this one made it into circulation without. Great rifle to be sure. Jeff

Matching Oberndorf 44 'n' block high turret with 'ar 44' receiver

Awesome rifle, Bruce, I love it. Years back I had a similar HT barreled action missing the mount bases, it was a recycled ar43 reciever as well. Jeff

BCD 4 Long Side Rail 93058

I missed this post, great rifle. Thanks for posting it. I have a soft spot for sporter restorations, that one was done really well. I love the scope. Whoever plugged the holes did a great job. Jeff

Whats a good introductory model for a collection?

Agreed. X2 on the reading and study requirement for this stuff. I would start off with a LSR, they are easier to authenticate, and not too terribly hard to find. Jeff

    lsr scope & can

I agree on the zinc phosphate. It is much darker than manganese phosphate like we see on the typical rifle finish. I have one as well, #79049 not with a matching can, of course. Beautiful, and I say the can is good, for the record. There has been talk that few of these were mated to rifles...

I agree, great rifle. The King of the High Turrets, I think. Jeff

    LT bmj Dialytan #69190

It sure looks deliberately textured, and I concur on it very likely being period camo. They camo painted and textured lots of field gear, why not sniper rifles occasionally? Great scope, I would be proud to have it in my collection. Jeff

    My byf45 high turret

Great rifle, and the scope looks great on it. As for DAVE, I think every sniper that has ever crossed paths with me had something to do with him! Jeff

    Knights Cross Soldbuch

Great as always, Peter. I have to ask, what is your personal favorite Soldbuch from your collection, and why? Maybe it's own thread would be appropriate. Thanks for posting. Jeff

Sauer HT serial #3344 barreled action from Alderfer Auction October 16th

The bolt shroud looks like 3344. I think the safety is the only problem. Jeff
