Looks like serial number is 8212 c. I know the gun isn't worth the 5k. Just want to be prepared to offer them a realistic amount for a shooter grade gun. Not sure why the seller thinks its worth 5k. Just wanted to post here to see if I may have been missing something.

I get the pictures aren't the best. Before I went and looked at it the seller is asking 5k which I feel is a bit much for a mismatch gun. Didn't know if the scope/mount justified anything. Also comes with the manual. Didn't really want to wast their time or mine.

Looks good! If that came up for sale in my area for that price, I would've bought it.

Some guys like to keep the duffle cut the way it is. If you do end up getting the gun and want to shoot it then repair it. There's a great thread on here how to do it.

I believe he's a reputable seller. The repair he mentions is a duffle cut. This is when a GI would cut under the front band to fit into his duffle bag and is a good sign of a bring back war trophy. The mistake he's talking about is the wood being stamped with 850 instead of the matching 860...

Surely some collectors part of this forum know Tom. Does anyone ever contact him and let him know something looks suspicious? Ive heard mostly good things about legacy and heard he knows more about pistols than he does these rifles.
