    Steyr bnz45 T-Block

My honest reaction to see this again this morning:

    Navy S/42 1938 K98 North Sea Group

Nice one, sometimes I almost forget Steyr wasn’t the only one making Navy rifles.

    Steyr bnz45 T-Block

Its so disgusting. I love it. That bolt shroud has to be one of the worst ones I have ever seen too, gorgeous. Looks like not just the stock, but the whole rifle had a rough life, lots of pitting and worn finish.

    dou. 44, 4916 C, Matching

One of the biggest issues is the limit to searching 3 letters, which conveniently messes with searching by code, ugafx posted a workaround to this that is quite useful. This discussion can be continued here as not to clog up this rifle thread...

    dou. 44, 4916 C, Matching

It DOES get updates just not too frequently due to the number of stickies. The discussion revolved around replacing all the old bad photos with newer examples, in addition to sticky-ing every matching rifle. The consensus seemed to be that this would be time consuming and not the main goal of...

    Depot/field repaired rifle value?

Which is why reworks like this are for the most advanced/knowledgeable collectors, and a dangerous game to play. The line between good fakes and unattributed depot rebuilds is razor thin in many places vs. say actual depot marked guns that have trends to follow. Sometimes it comes down to gut...

    dou. 44, 4916 C, Matching

The next (and only) dou.44 that is properly broken down in the pic reference is a t block, making this a good candidate for a pic sticky for earlier in the year.

    Depot/field repaired rifle value?

In that case probably as much or less than a matching rifle. With the amount of armorers parts that have changed hands alone here on the forum, in additional to posted restored rifles that were missing a safety or a bolt or a band or two for example, Id say most unmarked rebuilt guns were done...

bcd 45 86980 matching action and metal

Go to the reference forum and you will see a bunch of L block byf44 rifles, many with zf41's. That is the type of rifle your stock would go on.

    Depot/field repaired rifle value?

Any depot rebuild I typically see goes for 1.5-2x the price of an equivalent condition/rarity all matching rifle.

bcd 45 86980 matching action and metal

Agreed with Mike, while BCD did use this style of KM stock, they did not to my knowledge ever use the zf41 on their rifles. The rest of the rifle looks killer. PM sent

BEST WAY TO CLEAN MILDEW HOLSTER??

I have had NO experience with it because I know how utterly catastrophic high temperatures are to leather. This goes triply for fragile antique leather. I see this with reenactors who insist on drying out their boots by the fire, they need new ones by the next event. People forget leather is an...

BEST WAY TO CLEAN MILDEW HOLSTER??

Exactly, invest in a good storage environment, not old myths and remedies that destroy artifacts. I have literally hundreds of pounds of leather items in my basement and have never had mold because I keep a dehumidifier running.

BEST WAY TO CLEAN MILDEW HOLSTER??

Sunlight or a UV light, all it takes is UV light exposure. Anyone telling you to put 80+ y/o leather in a 350 degree oven is fucking insane. Water and vinegar treatments are dangerous on antique leather at best. On a related note, never use any sort of leather treatments or oils, you will simply...

With the prices I see nowadays, shows are where you go to sell and never buy unless you know the right people. ;)

Help Sling Experts : Sling ID Please

I have seen these K98k slings used on MP40’s too, maybe the initial intention was compatibility as well, since the first and third hole can be used for an mp40 stud without the frosch

Help Sling Experts : Sling ID Please

I suspect the extra holes were for if the first one was worn out or teared, another hole could be used then.

Scharf, if they share the RBNr. feel free to post them here, otherwise I recommend making a separate thread so I can add them to my comprehensive list found here: https://www.k98kforum.com/threads/1945-pattern-ammo-pouches-reference-thread-with-links.53226/
