Went To an Estate Sale In Kempner Texas

First the disappointment, the guns were all modern, cheap modern.

THEN I STRUCK GOLD.

A lot of loot for not much money.

I parted with $1,000.00 and left happy.
that's an amazing haul !! you struck gold there man.... looks like a vet lot hoard for sure..

The old rancher was a hoarder. Lots of junk and jewels, boxes stacked everywhere in the out buildings. Several old cars in the barn and antique farm equipment as well.

THe black panzer cap itself is worth more than the money I spent.

And the family is happy to be rid of the old mans " nazi crap ", as they referred to it.

looks similar to some Dachau hoards Ive seen.. the gold panzer destruction strips are worth a fortune with packet ? even more.... amazing this stuff is still turning up like this !

The badges are complete with paper envelopes.

The old man who owned the ranch was 97 when he died.

The place was really run down and looks like a junk yard sitting off the county road.

Both home and out buildings in poor repair.

Pretty much typical for rural Texas

I wonder where the guy got all those tank killer badges. They look unissued.
these patch and badge lots are typical finds. guys got into factories and depots this stuff was just sitting there waiting to be issued.. The Dachau hoard is something one can only dream of the amount of un issued items pulled out of there was astounding. That cap and the SS insignia is probably from there. The rest who knows ? Near by anyway Id assume. 45th div was there..

Interesting

I left my address and phone number with the Grandson and asked him to call me if anything else turned up. The family will be sorting through stuff for some time, as the guy was a hoarder to boot. Family will be selling the property itself, later this year.

My mailman a number of years ago told me that he was a kid when his father was stationed in Germany after the war. He collected bayonets, caps , medals, whatever and it was in his mother’s closet here in Texas. He promised to bring it over so I could have a look-see. I haven’t seen him for years !

Sounds like life here in Quanah, Texas but there isn`t anything thing left (that I know of) like what you just found.

For most younger folks this stuff is crap, that, like old family photographs, wind up in the garbage can, headed for a land fill.......

Pretty much sums up how they feel about us. Most of the 20 to 30 year olds here are meth-heads, no future, know nothing about the past, and all they care about is what they can steal from you for their next gram of dope.

It’s sad. My elderly, childless neighbors left all their stuff to my late wife (including the house). The lady’s family wanted one thing, a big bible. There was a box of photos. I still haven’t had the heart to toss it. He was a WWII and Korea vet. I have all his stuff. When I drop dead, who will want It?

Send it to me. We've got a son who has a handful of badges, my grandfather's uniform, a training grenade, a 20mm inert navy round, two pistols we built together, a carcano we worked on together. We love learning about history together.
