I don't claim to be an expert, far from it, or to have seen much at all. However, I have never seen a byf42 rifle in the i, or l block with WaA655 proofs on the stock. I was always under the impression that the WaA655 proofs went out in fall 1941. This one looks to have been put together. I may well be wrong but the keel serial numbers look to have been worked on and the wood in that area sanded and cleaned. It looks like the original letter block was either a c or an o. The front band font appears to me to be wrong. I suppose anything is possible but this one has a stink about it.
