It was very nice they helped you avoid that. We were watching it on another site and I'm sorry you got it. Good that you got out. Actually without the ridiculous stock stamps it's not so bad.

There are many nice rifles still available. Obviously not like 'the good ole days', but don't sweat that. I missed them too. Unfortunately in this game you almost need to get burned once or twice until you really start to get it. It's not so bad as long as your first mistake isn't a fake 30k sniper rifle.

Yes that's why I kind of ignored it. The rifle in general seems solid. Deep down I knew something was up with the stock stamps as I searched online and the Eagles I saw everywhere had less definition. So I came here to ask but when I signed up the first post I saw was everybody dogging it. So I had my answer and my gut was correct that it looked too good, but I still fell for it.

There certainly are but the availability of fake stamps has become a global problem. Last time over, I bought an otherwise legitimate common soldier's belt at a flea market and it had had a Waffen Amt applied. Maybe the proofs on this rifle were an attempt to enter the Braille market.

I have seen a good amount of legit rifles popping up as of late. I think that this is an unfortunate byproduct of collectors and veterans alike passing away.

Glad John was able to escape that sale... I was fortunate I started collecting German war relics at 10 and by the time I was old enough to purchase my first K98, I'd been schooled by a wonderful and knowledgeable collector, Michael Beaver. He was two thumbs up at my all matching BNZ 4... 75 bucks in 76!

passed on a (probably legitimate) german seized vz-24 fearing fake stock Waa's years

ago. got home from the gunshow and realized I probably screwed up. Rifle had a pristine bore, ( A very good sign that the rifle was in German hands) and badly bent and then crudely unbent 'matching' bolt. People using those fake stamps should be tattooed with them on their forehead. For 2 bills should have bought it.
