PTR44 Semi-Auto MP44

Picked up my GB PTR44 purchase yesterday. From all appearances, unfired. It came with four repop mags. Two are still bagged and fxo Waffen 37 marked. One of the remaining is fxo with just a 37 no eagle. Final is just MP44 marked nothing on the other side, Numerich perhaps? Unlike the other 3 with bluing, it's follower is in the white. Are most of these the original shipped mags?

No manual so asking are they available? Dingo? Bolt and Op Rod are in the white and serial numbered. The bolt appears to have been tested for hardness. Would these be recon replacements? Seems others I've seen their original parts were blued... Once I install a delrin bushing in the new play stock ferrule, I'll at least dial in the blanks and see how it does. I see the original mags run out of the box and what sources exist for the good repops please? I know Recon carries these but don't believe I've seen a review.

First thing I would do is replace the Oprod/bolt-carrier.

Otherwise this may happen.

Danke Herr Model... I noticed the ones that were failing were all blued where as mine is in the white. Could the previous owner received an upgraded part? Pete says he hasn't worked on a single one with unfinished parts new from PTR...

Im going to install a custom recoil buffer before it fires a shot. Pete gave me the heads up on that. Then work over the magazines. BTW, are the originals from PTR fxo marked? Don't believe I ran across that in the threads.

I thought I read that the repro mags from Numrich were the best and forget the rest sarco & recon for example, me its original mags ( the non pretty ones) yes they were over $ 250.00 but they function

Just because your parts are in the white is meaningless. Did the former owner tell you the original parts were replaced with the new heat treated Parts?
Some of the original PTR44's came through with internals that were not blued.

I think the Mags from Numrich/Recon/Sarco are all the same thing/Manufacture. I have some from all three places and they all look (and perform) the same for me.

The originals are the best but after 70 years the springs in them are getting weak. I have swapped out the original springs for new in my two original MP44 mags.

The former owner passed away so no secrets to tell, hence my many questions. All the photo examples I've seen show blued broken op rods and usually no finish recon or original parts. I'm on the hunt for original parts and mags. Just finished removing the tabs in the rear bottom of the receiver.. No one seems to know or will admit how to tell one mag from another by their markings.

maybe model is right and guess he would know, as I refuse to buy repro mags or anything else for that matter,

I read that Recons mags come from Indonesia, but that numrichs come from europe. after someone gave me a sarco Reising mag I would never buy a mag from them ever again, it was junk

Again I read this a while back and I do not know this for a fact. there maybe something about using repro springs for replacements as its not the springs that seem to have a problem

Years ago Numrichs had G/K43 mags that required a lot of work and only so so after much massagie... I sold off 4 original mags back before they went skyward... So originals are next on the list and I appreciate everyone's success and tales of woe/experience with these. When do complete BD44s get here? Many thanks to Dingo for the parts sourcing!

If the feed angle ain't right, it won't work reliably. Sometimes tweaking the feed lips does the trick. I'm only shooting 10 rounders (California, arrrghhh...).

Congrats on the new MP-44 parts rifle, hopefully you keep it together, great late war purchase our friend has the replacement piece you need

Thanks.. Are you talking about the back half of the receiver? Very interested. Original mags too of course. My first impulse is use the innards in my PTR and assemble the rest onto a dummy receiver until I can sort out the original.

I was really really hoping you would not source out that kit, its a great kit

I was going to bid but I was short the 5k its worth the 5K,, I would wait for Dingos parts and have Pete look over your rifle

but heck its your kit!!!!!!

With a fellow asking about 2200 for an original Op Rod and bolt now, I'm happy I've got that covered until I can get the parts from Dingo. Ideally it's backup. If I ever let that kit go I'll keep it complete. I'll see how it shoots before I send it to Pete as I enjoy building as well as fixing them. HKs and G43s have taught me a lot. You said you had a parts source for the 45 kit. Were you talking mags or receiver?

I looked just a couple days ago and Dingo still had four BD44 oprod/carriers for sale. This morning he was sold out! I grabbed one of the BD44/MP44 oprod/carriers while he still had a few. So......if anyone is wanting parts, don't wait because it might be gone in a flash! Dingo, I assume you will be importing more carriers and magazines?

Carriers are on the way, and I have ordered loots of 10round magazines. Also working on import papers for barrels and other magazines, a lot of paperwork.
By the way did get some original WW2 stuff in to, for MG34 and Some MP40 parts

Trying to ship the parts as quickly as possible guys, let me know if there s anything you are looking for. Thanks

Sent you a PM... G43 parts and will get a 10 round mag after they land.. Thanks for ordering many more!

I am waiting for a form 6 on the bolts, the laws in Germany makes the bolts restricted so I need the right import papers on them. They will be here a little later
