1941 byf SN: 961 matching with Eagle 655 markings except for bolt and parts thereof and handguard. Bolt and bolt parts are numbered 300g & have Eagle 214 markings. NIM (brought back by my father-in-law in September 1945). Barrel code 40R69. Laminated stock with machined flat butt-plate. Missing cleaning-rod & front sight hood. Nice original sling.

Where could I find a "real" cleaning rod & hood?

I have an original hood, cleaning rods are around. There is a guy selling originals on ebay and they have serial numbers, which yours would have had a 12 1/2" rod with the last two digits of 61 on it. The hoods I have are originals, not repros. I ask $35 shipped for a hood.

mow.

BYF 44 - 53219 - Arsenal Rebuild - Bring back.

It has a "7" stamped well behind the serial. It also has a six digit string of numbers on the right side of the ring - 249 453. Don't know what these stand for.

42 Code 1939, Serial 1941, WaA63 stampings, sporterized. Complete bolt, barrel, floor plate, and trigger guard are all matching numbers. Has been re-blued, Timney trigger, original rear sights removed and Redfield peep sights installed, and the factory stock and the the metal components are gone. No import marks to be found.

red glue laminate stock
All numbers match but front barrel band font looks different
Stock has eagle over large H on right side under the metal firing pin removal disc.
unclear stamp under grip of stock, behind trigger guard.
The rear sight has a rail on the left, looks like a ZF41 scope attachment point? probably a later add on, as I understand there are many faked up marksman/sniper rifles about.

Rifle shoots pretty well, and groups OK. The bore looks a bit dark but the rifling is clear and strong.
Would consider re-barreling it in the future, as I doubt its worth that much historically.

Any advice most welcome, I know very little about K98's

Someone has renumbered the bolt.

Someone has renumbered the bolt.

And the front barrel band, the font on the number '3' is totally different, one has a rounded top to it, the serial on the receiver has an angular top half to the '3'.
Anything else not look right to you?
Thanks for reply!

The butt plate would not have been blued. You didn't post any other serial number photos so I can't comment on anything else. I would assume that more than the bolt has been replaced and/or renumbered.

Here is front barrel band (numbers look a different font from rest of rifles serials) and the floor plate and housing.

Also the rear sight is black, shouldn’t the upper face with range markings be ‘in the white’ metal finish?

Help with BYF 44 Mauser Kar98

Can anybody help me and tell me what these numbers mean on my rifle? Everything is matching except the magazine plate which i was told was a stamped in wrong. (Ex. 56089 on everything but 56098 on the mag plate). I want to know if the stock is original to my gun. ( I have come across what i thought was a very small chip in the wood was actually a number which reads C10 i think on top of the handguard). Since its later in the war it was my understanding that the stock of rifles were not serial numbered. They all have the waffenamp 135 on every piece but was wondering if the C10 imprint on the top of the wooden handguard is normal.

Thanks
