Craig Brown's collection at Amoskeag auction this past weekend

Good lord... some of the really rare rifles got sold for so little money. The original Kar98 and the Schutztruppengewehr... wow

Does anyone know what some of the Gew98 rifles sold for? I know the Gew98 with night sights was bought for around $6,000. I am curious what the early pattern Kar98 carbine's brought.

That's why you sell you collection yourself. Nobody loves or understands your collection as well as you do, so it makes sense that you could make sure it went to the right place. I would imagine a lot of potential buyers didn't even know about the auction.

If I were the seller, and the auction house was having issues with online bidding....I would stop the sale. Who knows what that cost them.

I guess at the very least put one of your collector buddies in charge that knows what they are worth.

Or go crazy penny start no reserve gunbroker everything.

I saw that auction and really wished I would have hit the lotto. There were a lot of very nice rifles. I was in love with the German modified M91 rifle with the Turkish renumbered rear sights. I should have bid higher on that one. All of the rifles were winners though.

Anyone have a list and prices? I wish I knew about it. Actually after further thought maybe it's better I didn't know.

I went to the auction. It was a very strange day. Lots you would think would bring crazy money didn't, lots you would expect to be reasonable weren't. There were a couple of Singer made 1911a1's on the list, I was hoping to see a real wild west bidding war. The first one that came up had I think, two bids, then it was over. The next one that came up, one bid and done. Granted, they went for 80K and 75K respectively, but I thought the opening bids would start lower. Some of Mr. Browns items started off really low, and then just as I thought about raising my hand, a volley of bids would push it over 4K. I had my eye on a 1938 147 code k98k. I knew if it started high, it would soon be out of sight. It started high. I put my hands in my pockets. There were a few bids, and it was gone. I started after a Standard Model, and that went out of reach. I came home with a 1940 660 code. I saw the sold for list this week. Turns out the 147 code went for only $100 more than my 660 code. I must have blinked or something.

Post some pictures of the 660 code those are very scarce rifles too find. If the rifle is all matching and you got it for a good price in the end.

To be honest I wish I could have been at the auction just to see Craig Brown's collection. The one rifle I was really surprised it went cheap was Gew98 sniper rifle. If that was the same rifle I saw in person at the 2014 SOS show. That buyer got a hell of a deal.

Not the best pics but a 1940 660 I've had Warrior. I will get better pics and post.
