Anyone heard from Leszek Foks?

Asking here for lack of a better place. . .

Anyone heard from Leszek Foks recently? He reached out in early May saying he was making some Mauser stocks in a few weeks. I had one on order so I was excited, but I have not heard from him since. I knew he had some health issues, so I hope he's well.

I've been waiting for a G43 stock for close to 2 years now. My last email has not been responded to, that was 2 weeks ago.

I have not heard back from him. Are there quality repro stock makers here in North America?

Not really, although Jesse, the guy that runs Prestigious Wood stocks, has started offering a K98k stock. He seems to be using a capture Russian/Yugo as a template thou. Still, when few people reached out to him, he is open to working with people to improve his product. It would take an investment of time, but it may be worth it.

His current K98k stock offering.

Of course there are quality makers here in the US. The biggest issue I have found is finding the blank material. If a consistant source could be identified and secured, this would be a non issue.

I ordered and received a nice g43 stock that was made with walnut from Murray’s guns stocks.

Well, that's not good news. There wasn't anyone else making repro Kar98b stocks as far as I'm aware.

Looks like the same mistake, running laminations cross grained to one another.

Yes, I think a Yugoslav reworked stock was the pattern. In fact, it even looks like one of the stocks shortened by them for the re-barreled rifles given the two holes in the bayonet lug mounting area.

Agreed. It's also milled for the additional lug. Surely he could get a better stock to pattern.

About Jesse, @prestigious.

If there are enough people wanting to buy it, I'm sure he would spend the time to copy a better stock as a template pattern.

Two thoughts on this. Option 1, copy a flat buttplate, small takedown disk stock as template. I say this, because i think that it would be most versatile. With a little woodwork, this can be adjusted for a cupped buttplate, and a larger takedown disk, but going the other way is not really an option.

Or, Option 2, and correct me if I'm thinking about this wrong, maybe use a mid war C-stock, that would look like the depot replacement. This would make it somewhat more historically realistic.

Obviousy it will always be a replacement stock and nobody will pass it as the original, but what would be most useful?

I have an 1940 Wa37 stock that would fit the first pattern, flat with small takedown disk. I don't have a C-stock. I don't mind sending him my Sauer stock for a template.

He just responded to an email I sent about a month ago. Sounds like his website isn’t working right and he’s dealing with some health issues.

LOL - he's gone again. This is getting weirder and weirder. He told me he was gonna have a look for a band spring for me and would get back to me "after the weekend" 3 weeks ago now.

This is gonna be a good story in the future.

Said he would have a g43 stick for me, I inquired how and when to pay, nothing for 3 weeks.
