the front sight hood is a later addition that would not be present on a 1936 rifle from the factory.
Good eye!By the looks of things, that sight hood was just put on a non slotted front sight post. It is sitting a bit too low and looks a bit too spread on the bottom of the hood.
This was indeed true, the hood came right off without issueBy the looks of things, that sight hood was just put on a non slotted front sight post. It is sitting a bit too low and looks a bit too spread on the bottom of the hood.
Which would lead me to believe that the stock may be restamp as well, as suspected earlier and would be consistent with a restored sporter where the original stock was destroyed.the second picture, I think it is the hand guard is clearly a restamp, you can see the old number under the current one.

Doesn't it have a Nazi eagle??I think this is a stock from a S/42 G date rifle.
Weimar eagles, and the recoil lug and takedown didk both have the have the pre 1936 box type inspection marksDoesn't it have a Nazi eagle??
At the time I had mentioned the potential for Nazi and Weimar stamps I had not yet seen the rifle in person or pictures. Hard to make out, hope this helps. This one does have a Nazi stamp, center on the butt. OP had mentioned this marking elsewhere a while back.
