    1915 Erfurt Kar98a 2053ee

Speculation: While "G" is not associable with Jon Speed's list, I would suggest it's meaning is related (for instance Danzig possessed an artillery depot at the end of the war, at least, probably pre-war and not engaged in work WMO could supply but not listed and there were many others, further...

    1915 Erfurt Kar98a 2053ee

Must be 1916/DWM and not in trends, at least prior to the vast updates that have been accumulated... my database hasn't been reconciled since 2019 and I doubt I will live long enough to resolve its fragmentation! DWM only is known to go as high as the cc-block (actually kk-block) in 1916; it...

    1915 Erfurt Kar98a 2053ee

Chris, I liked the composite comparison, and the openminded approach; I tend to agree the most likely scenario is the absence of a dd-block discovery than a hard stop at cc-block especially as cc is reported with two 5000 cc and one 9000 cc, - the likelihood of the dd-block is high at least 9580/cc

    1915 Erfurt Kar98a 2053ee

    The short of it: Does 1915/Erfurt end at the cc-block and no dd- blocks exist (been seen)? The RR trend consistent throughout cc-ee: 1915 Erfurt 2313 z – C/B* C/E C/W 1915 Erfurt 3298 z – C/B* C/E C/W (B.S.I. 160) (bolt- C/W) 1915 Erfurt 7016 z – C/B* C/E C/W (bolt- C/W?) 1915 Erfurt 7876 z...

    1915 Erfurt Kar98a 2053ee

Not questioning the rifle, though I thought I would bring up something the forum might settle with a "collective" effort.... (collectivization should be ridiculed in most cases, but in this form it might be acceptable...) The short of it is this rifle has been recorded before, I recorded it as...

    Democracy vs. Republic

I like the analogy to a lynching... reminds me of Socrates, both his "trial" and his assessment of democracy.

    Dresden Spandau 1916/17 9329

A perfect display of a worthy rifle - far fewer mysteries would exist with similar performances! Dresden (and Saxony in general - of the four states...) offer the most mysteries rifle wise of this era, -although Bavaria is my favorite state of the empire, Saxony was no slouch and has a...

    First Gewehr 98 - Salty Spandau 1916

Never mind on the lower flat, I just noticed you caught that angle (a rare occurrence!) *** C/Q is consistent! (this changes in the m-block...)

    First Gewehr 98 - Salty Spandau 1916

Agree with all said, the restrike stock serial is very common passing through a depot, - and the stock acceptance matches perfectly with this maker, date and range (it is the original factory stock); to help research you might consider photography of the right receiver acceptance and lower bolt...

Looking for a little info Amberg 1916

It is not especially valuable, - few mismatched 16's are - but a plus the stock is Bavarian and probably factory. The bolt might be interesting, do more photos of it, possibly Danzig but certainty requires pictures. More could be said with more (and better) pictures.

First G98-1916 Simson & Co Gewehr 98 5677f. Any advice is appreciated

This is actually a late 1916 production rifle, made for Saxony and this falls into the starting beech stocks for Simson. Quite decent example, though a common range for Simson (as far as Simson is common... generally a rare maker, though not to rare in this condition and range but still belter...

    Amberg 1907 Gew.98 Einwohnerwehr Bayern

Another Bavarian member! Our greatest strength come from German members (Bavarians are most appreciated, in part, for their passion for individualism!) No worries on mastery of English, it is probable more Bavarians possess a better level of skill than the average sorry a$$ "american" these...

    Amberg 1907 Gew.98 Einwohnerwehr Bayern

Ahhh, I read your comment on the repro Tmag, I read past that, - guess the FP was m/m and wasn't discarded purposely, - in 2005 neither were shown. Nice rifle this original (Bavaria was very constant 1903-1913, same numbers to the b-block every year... only 1902 is exceptional in numbers...

    Amberg 1907 Gew.98 Einwohnerwehr Bayern

Are you in Europe, possibly Germany? This rifle minus the Tmag was posted on Gunbored's during 2005; just curious as everything you show has been recorded, even the barrel code, but a nice rifle (trench mag wasn't present then, a good thing, but it isn't clear if it matched then, the floorplate...

    What exactly do I have

The receiver is pre-war Amberg (02-06); probably wartime (WW2) ordnance build (of a salvaged G98 receiver) but I do see issues that are inconsistent. Too bad the alterations, - pre-war Ambergs are rare, HZa builds are a fascinating study too, history and idiots have ruined this rifle.

Looking for any information on 2 k98s

The barrel is the original barrel, but this is little more than the basis for a shooter (if the barrel is decent); neither are worth much but may serve as shooters (if barrels are decent) or project guns but it might be cheaper to buy a collectors shedded spare (many collectors shed rifles once...

New member hoping to get some info on Gew 98

Maybe some markings survive, faint or not, but see if a large A or B exist on the buttstock side. I am not educated or familiar enough with grain patterns to differentiate wood types by pictures alone, but maple is possible in this range (beech is more common, walnut is less common, though...

New member hoping to get some info on Gew 98

This is the range where maple stocks show up, two probable but a few mismatcher cloud how common this is... if the stock (BP at least) matches it may extend how common this was, - this rifles range is outside the other two, but we are talking a range of 5 rifles.
