Please see attached photos of a rifle that has been in our family for some amount of time. At least 40 years for sure. We think my grandfather picked it up. We do not have immediate relatives that were in WW1. All I really know is that it is an Amberg 1916. Someone has put some Danish oil on it. Probably a 35 year younger version of myself. Just didn't know any better. Serial number mismatch. The bolt and the bayonet lug are different serial numbers. Would love to here what people think of it and what I should do with it. Keep it or sell it.
Thanks,
Keith

It is not especially valuable, - few mismatched 16's are - but a plus the stock is Bavarian and probably factory. The bolt might be interesting, do more photos of it, possibly Danzig but certainty requires pictures. More could be said with more (and better) pictures.

Looks to be a Koln (4) rework of an Amberg 1916-- it seems the stock and triggerguard match, so that's a plus. Sadly, with the refinished stock and mismatched bolt, the value takes a hit. Still, worth holding onto if there's a family history with the rifle.
