Are rebarreled Yugo-captures the same as Yugo M-98 barrels?

Yep they milled the handguard to push the cutout for the front retaining band further back. Didn’t just lop a little off under the bayonet lug unfortunately (that would be a much easier fix. There are yugo full length k98 stock out there as well, not all were shortened to m48 specs. I have two...

RW marking bottom rear sight base

Picked up a replacement rear sight base to replace one on a sporter that had its hand guard lip cut off. The one I removed was unmarked and I thought the replacement I found was as well. Once I cleaned all the oil and gunk off the replacement I found a RW marking on the bottom of the base. Any...

Rear sight base what would you do?

Have you been able to fire the rifle with that repair? I would worry any good bump to the handguard would cause jb weld to break

Another sporter pick up dot 44

Thanks for the insights. I plan to replace the rear sight base so I have a lip for the handguard. If I were looking for a “correct” stock set and bands what should I be looking for? BBotW doesn’t have much on the topic. I assume unmarked stamped bands at this point in the war but have no clue...

Another sporter pick up dot 44

Looks like it was a matching rifle before it was sportered. Going through backbone of the wehrmacht seems like the markings are appropriate except two questions. On this one the floor plate has correct manufacturer and waffenampt but also has a serial number which is not listed for dot 1944 as...

Rear sight base what would you do?

So perhaps I missed it in my read through of backbone but what do the letter markings on the bottom surface of receiver indicate? Also the x on the bottom of the barrel at the front of the rear sight?

Rear sight base what would you do?

So getting in to this to post some pictures it is more of a mix master. I am using “backbone of the Wehrmacht” as my only k98 reference book at this time. Here are some more pics:

Rear sight base what would you do?

Bought two sporterized mausers at auction. One matching dot 1944 and a one byf 43 that has bolt that matches itself but not the rest of the rifle. I plan to find appropriate stocks barrel bands etc and return them to military configuration. The metal that is present hasn’t been messed with...
