zf41

Ohh no, not really interested in buying more just curious about your opinion of the rifle? it seems like a bit of an odd one to me, duv 41 receiver that has the machining ring marks, the duv 41 and 42 receivers I've seen are highly polished and smooth.. Also the bcd 1 stamp on the right hand side of the receiver and floorplate... It seems to me like a 42 assembled as well with the WaA 214 on top of the receiver as opposed to the 3 WaAs on the RHS and not serialed and marked screws.. Also the front bands reblued?
Just curious to see what you guys make of it....

Hi Guys,
what's your opinion of this one?

Forum policy is not to post links to ongoing auctions. I would remove the link and mention of the auction and just post pictures of the rifle and related questions in the future.

I'm not sure about the zf41 but my guess is the rifle is a rework of a bcd or duv used some of the subcontracted parts that normally went to Gustloff for it. Hopefully the experts will chime in. This example however might help it's a duv rework of a bcd and it seems to have a similar pattern. http://www.k98kforum.com/showthread.php?8539-bcd-41-R-Block-(All-Matching)

Thanks A Lot! Sorry about posting a live auction, still a newbie to the forum, I'll know better for the future..

Not sure on the DUV serial number ranges, but at a certain point in production before they ended ZF41 rifle at their factory, they went to the dove-tail slot on the mount vs the original flat rail. Every DUV ZF41 I've seen had the flat rail, not sure how many DUV ZF41 with the dove-tail slotted rail were produced..

This is from an article from Ye Connecticut Gun Guild:
"The third variation is the 42 “duv” K98k equipped with the ZF-41 rear sight base. The German Army authorized
the ZF-41 installation on July 11th, 1941 and “duv” was one of the earliest makers of the ZF-41 equipped rifles. They
made few and are rarely encountered today. These early ZF-41 sight bases produced by Berlin-Lubecker were the
"flat-sided” bases that did not have the groove found on the later production bases of other manufacturers."

So, look for the flat- non-grooved mount rail on all DUV ZF41's..
