Thanks a lot for this post Ken (and your work in general).

Here are two items I own, of B.B.T. Krauss.

Not a single mark. The knurling on the elevation ring seems to have been filed by hand, notch by notch.

I also own this French Army binocular, Model 1956.

I made some researches when I got this pair of binoculars. It seems that BBT at one moment in time merged with the M.E. Krauss company, from reading this ad.

My largest question is;
Were the kov ZF41 really used by the Wehrmacht during the war?
I have no data of kov with rifle serial# on the mount.

yes the KOV were during this period
there exist KOV with numbered mounts

in this picture this kov is not finished,it comes from the stocks of the factory
in fact you do not find on the marking zf41
sometimes they do not a graduation from 1 to 8

just letting you know that the CXN with the prefix 97 and 13 are post wars scopes and that is the year it was made.

What's a post war scope worth? I thought I was getting a WW2 scope.

Hello,

Numrich sells them for about 250-300 been a while since I checked yeah the 97 in the serial is 1997 then the rest is the actual serial of the scope which would be the 467th one made in 1997. then next lot I have seen has a 13 for 2013 and about 1000 made but I stop tracking these for some time now.

New one on me I thought all Numrich scopes were in a 1,000,000 range a range cxn didn't use during the war..

Actually, the repro "Z.F.41" on the market are not ZF41 but ZF41/1 (copy of ZF41/1 lens system).
They are well made but their length of ocular tube is 4mm longer than the originals.

What do you think?

I have aquired a photo showing a group of fallschirmjaegers training in fatigue uniform.

One has which I believe a container for ZF41.

For comparison.

One thing I am not sure is that all the K98k seems to be without front sight hood, which is too early for K98k-Zf41?
If it is not a ZF41 container, what else can it be?
Your opinion please.

Well, no idea.
Ok, I believe it is a container for ZF41.
So what does that mean?
It means the photo proves the existence of K98k-Zf41 based on a K98k made earlier than 1940. Perhaps an ordnance work. Not only factory made ar, byf and duv from 1941 are genuine.

Very interesting. The last picture you posted is certainly a ZF41. The scope can and the scoped rifle can be seen. What year is that from?

As for the first picture, I really can't see it clearly enough to determine what it is. Could be a ZF41 can but I am not familiar enough with all the extra items that German soldiers carried.
