ZF41 Sharpshooter help / options

Hi there,
I am in a situation with my AR42 ZF41 and wondering if anyone could help.

I have had this rifle for 10 years and had the zeroing BANG ON at 100 yards until I had the lenses cleaned. Having to re-zero and now using the adjustments drums, I can only seem to get it in the center either shooting 2 feet too high , or 2 feet too low. The front elevation drum moves fine, but rear drum even with the front screw loosened is very stiff, and have avoided putting pressure on them just in case it rugby balls the holes.

I have thought about shimming, but don't want to apply pressure on the scope tube. I did ask a question in another thread (sorry) about the elevation screw on the mount, but I can't seem to get any responses, but it is referenced on videos.

Would appreciate some advice please !

Maybe You should contact the person who did the cleaning and see what he did exactly . The biggest issue with cleaning is the Scopes don't get put back together as they were when previously zeroed and the ZF41 Scopes are notoriously difficult to zero .

Just to conclude, around a year ago I finally managed to get this back on zero, and have since shot at 800 yards with success.
Unfortunately unless you get lucky, be prepared to use a lot of ammo. I also record my targets when I shoot, so stopping recording between adjustments helped me trace the shot patterns (and what each adjustment actually did to POI) to finally get it all in the middle from 100 yards. I tried lasers , bore sighting etc, and found that taking the proof in the pudding aproach was the best way , e.g fire the gun, look at the sand / target, and adjust accordingly.

What I found is when making adjustments that I could easily inadvertently move the drum when securing it all up again, and losing my position.So when loosening the front , do it ever so slightly enough so that the drums only move with some mild force !

Agree it is a real P.I.T.A.! I haven't shot mine in years after getting it zerod in. I unmounted the optic a few years to store it. Now I'm wondering how close it will be when it goes back on.

Should be fine, taken mine off / on a couple of times and was still on the money

Hey guys how much vertical adjustment does the zf41 have roughly? Whenever i find one i like ill shoot it now and then w cast loads that generally hit about 1ft low from jaceted at 100yd. Any chance ill be able to zero it?

I can "sort of" help you here. Attached is my drop chart for this (my) rifle. I chronograph all my loads for majority of my guns. This is for a 196gr HPBT bullet, and you can see at the bottom my ZF41 scope "rough" settings for a 6 o'clock hold or what is also called "lolli-popping". I do this as the definition is so low being 1.5x.
This chart doesn't account for day, temp, humidity, so of course will not be the silver bullet for every day of the year. I refer to this each time to at least get me on paper to save ammo on long range days.

Speaking of (not) saving ammo ,yes I have tried 1000 yards as I was feeling brave !

How much adjustment does that teeny tube have? I'd figure the zf41 as a 600- optic
