Got this one coming in the mail Not sure what mount is or should I say was. I have repro mount from a member here. Optics are good and for same $ as current repro's go for

This appears to have been the original mount that was sawn off and modified to fit something much differently than a G/K43 rifle.

Yes that's what I thought. Once I get it i will take it off and get a better look at that that bottom rail is before I toss it.

I know it Hitler's Garands that Darrin joked that someone should donate a mount to do some metallurgy testing. This would be the perfect piece to do it on!!!

Nice find...salty. You get a nice original band/bolt too! Pretty early serial number as well.

Well I will donate what's left of the mount to whoever wants to do testing. But its been ground on and welded on so not sure what results would be.

Also scope good but just a tad cloudy. Can these be serviced/cleaned. I don't think its something I would attempt myself. I did manage to get about 3 layers of old cloth elec tape off the covers with a little application of heat from a hair dryer to soften it up followed by some goo gone. Strap is beyond saving.

Got it mounted and checked function of Elv & Win which are ok. Did a rough reticle bore sight procedure as described on Claus Espeholt's site that's why the cover is off the adjustment turret until I can check it at the range. Too cold and rainy to go to range so maybe next week.
