Not fully on topic in here, but had hoped that anyone in here might know the answer to this .. bought an assortment of scopes from a gunsmith who was cleaning out his workshop, among them was a Zeiss Zielklein. It is absolutely unused, in NOS condition and complete with its original leather covers. Took me some time to realize it is different in that it has a * on the tube, following the serial number. Filled the markings with crayon to make them better visible for the attached shown pictures.
Has anyone ever before seen a * marking on a Zeiss scope? Or might anyone even know what this means?
