Yugoslavian Surplus Ammo

I recently ordered up 900 rounds of the ammo linked below, and will be purchasing more. This is impressive stuff. It's packed in the original boxes and is very clean, cleaner than the photo would suggest. It also shoots clean, with little residue. Bullets are 192 grains, making this stuff very close to the original WWII Ss ball load. I've had no failures to fire.

All ammo is broken out of the original cases and reboxed for shipment. If you buy in an increment of 900 rds. (60 15 rd. boxes equal one case) you can add a note during the purchase process asking that an unopened case be shipped. Shipping is super fast.

Thank goodness that 98ks are designed the way that they are, such that the gasses and particles from a case failure are easily dissipated without damage to the shooter or rifle.

I've seen nothing like this in the several hundred rounds of this ammo that I've fired, all of it in bolt action 98ks. Cases are well supported. Come to think of it, I've never had a case failure in a 98k.

I've had good luck with it too TSMG. Not the most accurate, but plenty good enough for gubment work (as it was designed) at 3-5 moa. An occasional failure to fire. I've had some cracked cases too. When I loaded up on the stuff it was maybe $60 or something ridiculous like that for 900 rds.

My regret is not buying up more of the 78 vintage brass case!

I would be sure to wear some shooting glasses...
One member on the forum spoke of getting his "face dusted" , so some eye protection would most certainly be in order.....just in case.(pun intended)

a dead k43 because of bad yugo surplus ammo, I will never use it in my k43, but I use it in my K98.

As AG stated, eye protection ALWAYS when shooting. It only takes a tiny accident to blind you. To lose one's sight for want of a $2 pair of safety glasses would be quite regrettable. I've had plenty of things blow back in my face, hit me, etc., over the years. Once I had to dig a fingernail clipping sized piece of copper jacket out of my forehead above my eyebrow. Had it hit me an inch lower with no glasses my eye would have been done.

Dane, thank you for posting that. I've heard of this ammunition ruining G/K.43s and I believe an FN.49 or two. Sorry about your rifle brother !

AGREED! Basic stuff but always important. Agree on the g/k43 + fn.49 comment. That's why when shooting period semi's I just shoot a Garand.

I had case head splits with this ammo (1954 dated). One split in my g43, knocked the bolt carrier off its track, but didn't do any real damage. When it happened again in my 98k (which handled it well) I gave up with this ammo. I inspected some unfired rounds and found the heads were actually cracked before firing.
I would only use the 70's and later vintage Yugo ammo.

I've only had one case-head failure in my K98s, and that was with 1960s FN 8MM. Blew powder residue into my forehead, and bent out the floor-plate a bit, but no other damage to speak of. This Yugo ammo has always shot fine through all my Mausers, with only a couple FTF.

lucky for me, that it was not mine rifle, but sad enough that a nice rifle were ruined.
I found it some time ago on the internet, think it is ok to post it here,
as it might save a rifle or two in the future, and also help that people not get injured.

I have a G43 duv 44 and a K43 qve45, The qve 45 is a very nice rifle. it is seldom that I shoot with the qve 45, the duv 44 is not complete, but when it is complete, I will use it seldom too. and never use this kind of ammo.

I've always used eye and ear protection.

I did inspect a few fired cases, inside and out. Found no evidence of corrosion, internal or external. Have had no case failures or failures to fire. If these were not Berdan primed, I'd have tried reloading some as they look that good.
